Orange phone price increase in April?? |

A few websites have mentioned that the price of phones on Orange is going to increase by £50-70 in April due to instructions from Oftel?
Are phone prices really likely to increase?
How much is the p800 likely to go up?
I was planning on buying a p800 at the end of May, but if prices will be higher then than now I might not wait.
Anyone shed any light on this? |

I was told that upgrade prices will go up depending on your average monthly bill, but if usually over £30 then it wont effect you, this info came from an independant dealer tho.

The upgrades are really wierd and a pain for sales consultants now.
We can't easily price an orange upgrade now without having to contact orange first.
Your upgrade price is worked out on a usage basis, although I can't remember the cutoff points and so on.
As for the prices going up on new Contracts, Orange have confirmed for 1st April however other networks are expected to follow suit.
Going to be an interesting few weeks at work anyway! |

evn though the prices in orange shops and other network shops (t-mobile voda o2 & virgin etc.) will the price on sim free handsets go up aswell?
if u look in say cpw they will sell a nokia 7210 for £330 yet u buy it on pay & go (still in cpw) its only £300? maybe the networks are just puting prices the same because they fill they are missing out on £££? |

Sim Free handsets are supposed to be staying about the same, but I wouldn't put it past the manufacturers to raise the prices at the same time as the networks do (thus making contract phones even more expensive)
Alot of the pay and go phones at CPW are actually cheaper on sim free than on pay as you go, there are still however the odd one where the network still give a tiny subsidy, there is just no money made in prepay any more (so we keep getting told) |

It seems prices will be going up by £40 at least according to places Ive spoken to. One place mentioned a certain £40 increase, and maybe even as much as an £80 increase (for P800's).
As a result I decided to order my P800 today, even though my current contract has a couple of weeks to run.
I paid £24.95 on OVP 02 400 (£45 a month with 50 free texts). I'll drop to talk120 after 4 months. That seemed to be the best deal I could find. Thats from www.clubmobile.co.uk. They also offer a recommend a friend scheme, get £25 if you recommend anyone!! (So if anyone buys one and doesnt mind me putting them down as recommended by me, then PM me! Long-shot, but as a student you gotta try anything )
