Hi guys!

I'm relatively new to this forum and to GPRS. After configuring my T68i, I found out that if my T68i is connected to a PDA I'll be charged. Here's a copy from the FAQ: http://www.myglobe.com.ph/portal/faqs.asp?conid=609&categoryid=176&title=faqs

---------
GPRS is FREE if surfing using your phone. But if your using your mobile phone connected to a laptop or PDA, that would be P .50/kbps (for Corporate Managed internet browsing P .15/kbps).
---------

How true is this? I did use it on my Sony Clie using the IR and surfed WAP sites for over an hour. After I disconnected, I checked my prepaid balance and its still the same, meaning I wasn't charged.

I'm also planning of getting a memory stick BT dongle to pair the PDA with the T68i. With this setup, am I going to be charged per kb or is it still free?

Please share some light on the issue. TIA!

aBe

if you're using APN www.globe.com.ph wap surfing over gprs is free...but you can't use it as a modem for your pc or pda...you have to use APN internet.globe.com.ph w/ charges P0.50 per kb....

@Jowi I use www.globe.com.ph APN for browsing wap and webbrowserpro on my Tungsten t. For browsing with GPRS on the pc or laptop the internet APN IS needed and this is charged .50 per kb of sending and receiving.

I think we should pester GLOBE when they start charging for the service. Free GPRS, IMO, is what made a lot of techies switch SPs. Any idea when they start charging?

Pls document your Globe gprs charges made to your account even if using APN internet.globe.com.ph since October 31, 2001... Up to this moment, there has been no public announcement save for their promo on the G-Surf Plan which first appeared last Friday, March 21, 2003 that gprs was being charged.

Globe claims that MOST NOT ALL SUBSCRIBERS were informed through TEXT MESSAGES that gprs would be charged 50 centavos/kb. TEXT messages could not be considered as a proper venue for public announcements as its receipt could not be verified unless the receiver has replied accordingly.

For those who were charged, dare Globe to produce any public announcements made since October 31, 2001 (when globe started to charge) and have your charges reversed.
