I don't know if you're a high school, college, or professional institute student, but regardless, if it were me, I'd first assess the cost of either repairing the damage, or replacing the unit (if necessary), and with some kind of documented proof of this, I'd go in and talk (patiently) to the principle, dean, or director or whoever is in charge and insist that the teacher (or school, and let them deal with the teacher) pay for the damage. If that doesn't work, go talk to an attorney. Because regardless of your teacher's reason for confiscating your phone (like how childish is that), it doesn't give him/her the right to damage what belongs to you. Confiscation and damage are two separate issues. Years ago teachers could get away with crap like that, but not anymore.

Maybe in the UK, things are a bit different, but here in the States, I recall a case where a grade school teacher confiscated a boy's Pokemon cards and then wouldn't return them. His mother sued the school, and the judge awarded the child (and his mom for that matter), by making the school pay them $25,000.00. School's have to be very careful with that kind of crap these days.

Some teachers need to wake up and smell the coffee. Geesh. I be ticked off too if someone had damaged what belonged to me. |

Yes, the teacher should pay for a replacement unit.

hey that's no joke! The teacher either pays for repair/replacement of the unit or take legal action. if that doesn't work.....heads up! take action and SE whipp him over the head with the damaged phone until he changes his mind and learns from his stupid mistake! |

i take my t300 & mca-25 to school everyday. today there were some protesters outside and police were there too when i came out of my denetion at lunchtime, which was in a room on the top floor. i got a good view of stuff and quickly took a pic before the teacher saw...

here, if anything is confiscated with a significent value, ie. mobile phone, cd walkman, then it has to be locked in the school safe. supposedly, your parents are to collect it from the headmaster, but that rarely happens and you normally get it back at the end of the day.
