Restore from backup not working - HELP! |

I have just performed a master reset on my P800 as my GPRS stopped working for no apparent reason so I thought, no problem, I'll just reset and restore my most recent backup.

To my horror, I am now getting the message 'restore failed' after I initialise it.

Not had any problems backing up thought this is the first time I've tried a restore.

Please help - I'm screwed if this doesn't work!

Try performing it on the phone alone first, and then on mem stick. |

One thing would be to reinstall the pc sync, windows should save the backup even if you delete the program.
How big is the backup file? I had problems once with it not backing up all. |

The backup's 21 MB inc mem stick but it won't even restore the first backup which is much smaller. If I re-install the sync, will it DEFINITELY save the backup? If I lose that as well, I'm in even more trouble, if that's possible!

Nothing is ever 100% sure in the world of computers, but windows has a "cache" to restore programs in cases like this. To be sure you can look for the file and copy it.

Uninstall the new version of the pc suite. Install the older version that one received on the cd. Had a similar problem that got sorted out. Export the backup file to the hard disk before uninstalling. It is a painful procedure but does the job. You will be required to reinstall the new version to avoid sync problems. |

Before you uninstall everything make a copy of the directory containing the backups. It's an option somewhere in the backup program which tells you exactly where they're kept. |
