WE all know that SE have the software to make T68 FULLY mophun functional. We know this because the mophun engine was developed on the T68... AND the that T300 is basically a T68 inside i.e IDENTICAL PROCESSOR so we are trying to get a petition together... I spoke to SE themselves by phone DIRECTLY today.. to the head guy for T68 and he was amicable. He's asked me to email him with a petition... but we need to add more signatures to the petition in order to secure a release of this software... the SOONER the BETTER... so I'm trying to rally support from T68i owners cos the software is ALREADY there....

You can petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/8520/petition.html

The more we get the better we stand... When I spoke to the head guy at ericson he seemed amicable especially whe I highlighted the fact that NOKIA always supported older platforms when it came to games..... BUT WE NEED YOUR SIGNATURES PEOPLE!!!!

yep, with two new mophun/java enabled phones about to hit the shops, including the direct successor of the t68, i can see why SE must be mad keen on the idea of yet another free upgrade of their old technology.

</sarcasm>

i think your amicable friend was humouring you.

the t68 is an old phone that has already served it's purpose very well for the company. it doesn't really matter if, with a slight rewrite, the t68 could make the tea and do the ironing- it's still not in the interests of SE to upgrade it. it was never sold as a java phone, and it never will be a java phone- if you want one of those, buy one- SE have the t300/t310/t610 ready just for you.

in any case, don't forget that the t300 lost voice dialing, voice commands, bluetooth, and the more businesslike calendar app to make room for mophun. what you're asking for is not a t68 with java, but a t300 in a t68 case- not what i call an upgrade.

Interesting point but when I spoke to the developers at mophun thay aired no such concerns.... but I do apppreciate where you are coming from....

I think until they tell us what will have to be sacrificed, lets try run with it... remeber they won't want bluetooth in the t300 anyway cos that would challange the T610

And also consider a scenario where by we forfeit the current games and be able to store 2 or 3 downloaded ones on the unit???

The other thing is it would be an individual choice do we need 500 names in the phone book???

but now you're talking about two different flavours of t68 firmware (four if you count the minor differences between the "m" and the "i") all of which SE have to keep up to date and support.. and all for what? what's in it for them? nothing, aside from lost sales on their new phones!!

just forget it. we t68 owners have already got our money's worth, and have nothing to complain about. if it's not enough for you now.. get a new phone!

Its no big deal I spoke to the guys at mophun they have the software there ready but they need go ahead from SE..... worst SE can say is no so what???!! besides there's rumour of people already running it... unsupported....

Actually the Mophun engine is no larger than app. 70 kb, so that's not really an issue. But I too doubt that SE would even consider putting it in a new sw release, but it'd be nice.

The T68 will not get an Mophun upgrade. That would just be plain stupid by SE. Much better that people buy new phones than to give them something they haven't payed for.

Besides another problem is that the current Mophun games uses polyphonic sounds which is not supported by the T68.

bs.

mophun don't do phone firmware, they do mophun. SE license mophun code to use in their firmware. SE won't release prototype firmware, because it's probably unusable in the real world, and isn't in their business interests anyway.

this thread is so much of a crock, i can't even be bothered to flame you back. have a nice day.

I'd rather just get a t610 when its out, else u'd be moaning about the 256 colour screen not being good enough for games,t610 will have mophun and java wont it? And 65,536 colour screen.Even then u'd be wanting the t610 to be software upgraded to 3G! SAVE UR PENNIES FOR THE T610! Or even the T310! Most of all...QUIT DREAMING!!! :-)
