I signed up for the Orange O2 Business First contrat in onestopphoneshop.co.uk
the phone costs 209 pounds and 14Pounds per month for the orange contract.
The webpage said that it comes with one year free orange care service.
The problem is: If I lost my phone due to robbery, am I be able to get a replacement from Orange? Also I want to know how much they will charge for a claim. The terms in the orange homepage did not say how much they will charge and they keep saying "lost/stolen" and not "lost/stolen/robbery"...
Furthermore I saw from pervious posts that if I unlock my phone I void the warranty from orange care, what about the insurance?

Not sure of charges but you should be aware that mobile insurance does not cover you if lost/stolen on licensed premises or on public transport. If you mean via a burglary when you say robbery it should be covered but also by household contents insurance. Hope this is helpful

Unlocking won't void your warranty according to orangeman, a user on this site who works for orange, however Orange themselves never seem quite sure, deending on who you speak to.

I don't believe you will have free Care unless the website are paying for it as Orange no longer offer it free with any voice talk plan - stingy bastards.

If you do have it or you choose to pay for it (£5 per month) it does cover loss/theft and there is no excess (charge) when you make a claim. But make sure you have the crime reference number in your hand when you phone them cos nobody at Orange talks to anyone else, they don't write notes on your account and you'll never knowingly speak to the same person twice. When dealing with their CS, always get the rep's name (full) extension number and team number or all hope is lost!

It comes with everything included i.e. Desktop cradle/charger, 16Mb Memory duo, 3 extra stylus (they must expect you to lose or break them) handsfree stereo headset/mic, 2 CD's with drivers software and extra stuff, carrycase, theres soo damn much you wont be dissapointed.

dave_uk: Thanks for your help! Last year my t68i is gone in thisw way...
when I leave the tube, the phone is gone...
I claimed for insurance and asked my friend to mail it for me. Then I flight back to Hong Kong for christmas. However when i came back to UK there was still no reply from Phone 4 U...
After another month, I found that my friend did NOT mail the letter for me(I found the letter without stamp under my bed...), even when I asked him if he mailed it that night...
I asked for a new claim reference number but they said I lost it in the tube, so no claim...
Fxxk!!!!!!!
and I still have to pay for 8 month more, 25 pounds each!!!
For NOTHING! NO SIM CARD, NO PHONE!

You can always downgrade the tariff after a certain time...i'm gonna have to do that as i'm gonna be abroad and not using the SIM card...it does seem very unfair that they are not accepting your claim...

Orange have now stopped giving Orange Care away free unless you a registered business user like me:) and they never gave care with OVP tarriffs anyway

Incorrect. OVP 02 Business First was, and still is, the exception to that rule because of the insurance that O2 offer(ed) with this tariff.

Yes...
And next time you lost a phone in public transport remember to lie...
I was paying 7pounds per month for insurance and I terminate it immediately after they said "no claim" =(
Also anyone knows what is the cheapest plan for voda?
I will just pay for the remaining fees and forget it...

Mmmm i think it depends on who you re with, I'm with O2 through singlepoint( i know probably a mistake but hey the guy hooked me up on the hanset price), and they require you to call the police. I guess to get a statement or something? So i wouldn't necessarily lie to them, but i understand what you mean...i will make sure to be careful while on public transportation from now on...i always was but now i'll just be paranoid...lol

Just be careful.....I have one of the old "Anytime 200" plans which includes Orange Care. Prior to upgrading to the P800 I asked Orange if I keep the plan will this include the insurance....the answer was YES.

This week they tell me NO, because it's a Phone and PDA your insurance is invalide on your plan and you need to take out a new policy @ £5/month. After nearly 4 weeks use I have cancelled my P800 and it's going back to orange today. I'm keeping my T68, this will be coverd by Orange Care and have ordered a new P800 from AVR mobiles as an additional user. Doing this I saved myself £160 on the cost of the handset and upgrade fee.

And.................got a brad new P800
