After getting too used to Broadband I don't think I could put up with waiting for a 4MB song to download at this speed. Don't forget the Memory stick is only a measely 16mb and it's not that cheap to get bigger ones either.

very true. but gprs isnt that bad a connection. ant if we downloaded files in atrac3 or wma format then they would be 1meg each, roughly.

It could probably be done, but it would not be very useful. Remember that the P800 (and most other phones) only has one timeslot uplink. Besides would you like to pay for other people downloading stuff from you.

With 3G and flatrate data subscription it could be intresting though.

also I don't think the P800 can play wma files. Or am I wrong? (I hope so, wma files can crunch the sizes down quite a lot)

Kewl idea!

But as long as GPRS costs 0,25 Eur per 10Kbs here in Portugal, I'll surelly won't be downloading a "couple" of Megs MP3 song!

a good idea, u could have any music on hand anywhere but the money spent on gprs would cost alot,

do any of you know where u can buy something like a internet provider that u pay say £25 a month and u can use your gprs connection when ever u want for that locket price a month?

i pay £25 from telewest broadband a month for internet at 543kb/s which does me fine downloading music or even films but i still end up paying more becaues of GPRS on my phone im allways useing it on the go and it would be cheaper to be able to have server like that...

i hope you understand what i mean

I wouldn't want to have all the Spyware that comes with Kazaa on my P800 - if looking for your desktop you should go with WinMX instead.

first of all, u cant port kazaa...
the source code is sort of not released..
so arguing over if it wld be cool is pointless
even if there was a port for it, imagine how large it wld be.. P800 cant support it.. unless u want to uninstall everything on ur phone or somethin...
on top of it all, y do u need mp3s "on the fly".. cuz it aint on the fly, u'll wait 1h for each one to be done if not more..
cant u just d/l it at home and transfer?

@contaygious

My sentiments exactly mate, far too much money.

@Froddan

How on earth do you get it for free? (are you in uk?)

@Jamatjam

I know what you mean - i think - you want to be able to dial into your computer at home and make use of that massive bandwidth that is used at home -right?
Well one thing is for sure you wouldn't get connected at the same speed as your home connection (We all wish you could!) and secondly you would have to pay to dial your house. Now depending on you contract that could work out cheaper or more expensive.

But you tech guys out there let us know if it is possible

@amagab

What spyware? Use Kazaa lite make

@fijbert

I am sure there is someway to access the Kazaa info from your phone and I don't think the program would be that big either.

Despite the times it would be cool to get the latest tunes while you were away from your computer

and yeah.. it wld be that big
it will defenetaly be larger than Opera

+ the porter will get sued by Kazaa for getting possession of the source code

trust me.. forget it.. it will never happen..

thats not what i ment at all!

what i mean is, lets say i pay £25 a month for unlimeted internet on my p800 thats all (via gprs for speed)

i dont want to connect my P800 to my computer for internet at all! i simply dont want to pay £100's of pounds just because i like internet on the go!

i love the web on my p800 its a good idea and the internet on my old 9210i was only 28kbs which was dead slow! i mean SLOWWW it took about 10 mins to open a page!

but the p800 is so much faster and thats why i bother to use it, say when im out and about or just showing it off to friends!
