absolutely not!
just look at the size of that antenna for a start. and the screen is a whole lot smaller than the p800.
is that genuine or just a photoshop knock up?
they don't make them like they used to |

Does look nice though-- but i think that they would have found a way to remove the fat antenna!

I thought the prototype was the one used by angelina jolie in tomb raider, the one she placed on the car kit on the land rover :-)

Reminiscent of an oversized t39...
Either the display is to small or the phone is HUGE.
Judging by the number of shortcuts in the top row the phone is HUGE.
The directional pad would be nice...
I think it's some kind of pocketpc/palm thing edited by a rather skillfull photoshop user.. I mean since noone has heard nor seen it before...
Besides. They would NEVER release a phone these days with an antenna like that! |

On Cebit 2000 they had a working sample of exactly this unit. There was quite a big show around this device actually. Never released though. |

It looks way better than p800 (today was the first time I actually held one in my hand, a dummy though) and if it had been adjusted fot the new screen of p800 and they got rid of the antenna it would be cool. Antennas weren't that unusual when that prototype was made anyway. I think it look similar to iPac |

Okay, this phone looks way cool, but its kinda strange for top-notch communication company like Ericsson to remain sticking to THIS BIG ANTENNA, even for a high end phone.
Hmm, however, it has a brilliant layout like having some solid keys, instead of relying completely on touch screen system. However I believe this device cannot be used as a handheld phone, but only via the Handsfree, isn't it? Just an observation...
Cheers!

this is genuine, someone posted another photo of this in another thread just recently. it's a big phone, doesn't have a camera, and the antenna is pretty sizable, but it is a few years old now. it was cancelled in favour of what we now know as the p800. |

i don't like the directional pad, it's like on siemens. i guess it could be easier for bigger hands?

an ericsson photo of there P800 is unlikely to be found. ericsson would've named the P800 the SC78 thats all i know about it. |

This was supposed to be the successor of the R520. Ericsson never released it because they were having financial problems already. This was the photo I posted earlier.
It was huge... but as you can see... it already had UIQ running on it. (UIQ v 1.0, initially called Quartz)
And yes, it needed a headset to be used as a phone. But it did use SD cards instead of the Duo... and yes, it does look better. IF they had just followed this design frame... the P800 would've looked a lot better... oh well... we'll just wait for the Mineral Gray case of the P800!

In my mind, Sony can design (shape) and finance and let Ericsson engineer. That model is unapealing. |
