Need help getting the PC to recognise my P800 |

I'm having real problems getting my PC to recognise that the P800 is connected. I've installed some games from CD2 to the P800 fine although I had to keep trying until the software found the P800 before it started installing.
Now I'm just trying to send some images over and the image editor says there's no phone connected. The "My P800" icon on the desktop says - Not Connected, and the "Phone Connection Link" in the tray has said its connecting for about 30mins now. I'm using the cradle through USB.
Thanks for any help, as I've exhausted my ideas trying to resolve this. |

unplug the cardle from your USB port and reconnectit. Your PC may either recongnise the cradle and make the connection or ask you to install the new hardware found. If it does this, re-install and it should work.

Typical, I tried everything but that - the SE software is seeing the phone fine, thanks alot. Is this what you're expected to do each time then? |

If it keeps happening, then yes, but it shouldn't. Sometimes the USB port might get clogged though.

I just started getting the same problem on both of my PCs!
I plug in the cradle and the phone connection link finds it ok. Then I plug in the phone and it sits there reporting that it's connecting, but never actually connects.
As I said I've tried this now on two PC's (Xp and 2000) in every USB port, but nothing. It never gets passed Connecting.
I've been using it fine so far, and I've trasfered tons of stuff too and from the phone. Without the USB connection the phone, is nothing more that just that! a phone. I want full PC connectivity without any hassles.
Is anyone else still experiencing this problem? I notice a lot of the posts regarding this subject were made in January. Has SE done anything about this since then?
I'm not sure how relevant this other point is, but I've just noticed that the phone connection link sometimes says connecting ONLY when I remove the phone from the cradle! while sitting in the cradle is says Not Connected. So it's not reconising that I'm putting the phone in the cradle, just that I'm removing it!

Try turning off anything in the connection properties that isn't USB, ie any bluetooth or standard serial ports.
Then test any extra software you have by turning it off - firewalls and nav specifically.
I have never had any problems with the usb cradle and i use it regularly on about 5 Pcs, all 2k or xp. But - they are all clean builds, ie there is no crap on any of them... which is probably why they work

I do have a firewall running at home (although I think it was disabled).
There is a serverside firewall here at work, I don't think it does anychecks on local ports tho.
Plus nothing has changed on both PC's since yesterday, but the cradle won't work now.
What get's me the most is that the phone just isn't detected in the link status until I remove it. |

I don't think the firewall is to blame, i have one and it works perfectly. I do have that problem of it staying on "connecting" status for a while...but then it will connect if you pull the phone off, and put it back on. Ultimately, restarting the comp should work...
can't wait till we have chips implanted in our brains and the size issue goes back to being something else. |

Again, I've tried it all, rebooting disconecting all other USB devices, lifting the phone off and putting it back on... Nothing.
I'm really upset, cause so far everything about the phone (apart from lack of clock screensaver) is great. But this problem is really big. |

I only mean local software firewalls as the PC communicates with the phone over TCP/IP apparently.
You got any dodgy looking items in Device Manager?

Everything looks good on the hardware side.
I checked the hub readings, it tells me that the DCU-11 is drawing 100ma. So that says it's all correctly intouch with the PC.
I wish bloody SE would get back to me.
Does anyone know what there turnaround is on technical querys?
I hope I'm not waiting weeks. |

I've recived a second e-mail from SE saying that the message has been passed on to technical, and they will be getting back to me within 48 hours... Whats the chances that it doesn't include the weekend in that equation? |
