Desperately need an "old" 8k sim |

I desperately need an old 8k sim. It turns out that the Nokia 8290 has a problem: if you initially used it with an 8k sim, it "locks" onto that sim format. That's what happened to mine. My sim chip was upgraded to 32k by my carrier, for use with my newer phone... but now the 8290 won't work with 32k sims, and none of the carriers have any old 8k sims lying around. They say if I can locate one, they can reprogram it to work...
Does anyone have an old chip they can part with? Or any advice? Thanks!!

Well i do hope u find ur 8k sim card although it is difficult to find one. Here in my country,an 8210(8290 in the US),unlockd or not,can accept up to 64k sim card.
If u have no choice,do sell ur phone and buy a new one.

There was a software error in those 8290's... you can go to any store and have that phone replaced by one that will accept the 32k SIMs. Unfortunately, that phone has been discontinued for a long time. You might get a 6590 (which is a better version of that phone ). |
