Hello

I got a weird bug with the P800. Yesterday and today as well when I type a msg and reach around 70 characters the P800 tells me it would start a second msg now (usually a msg is 160 characters long!). Before I reached 160 the P800 told me it would start the third msg now. I thought it wouldnt matter and sent the msg to my friend anyway (only 160 chars long for real). I got to know that three msgs arrived on my friends phone and they all where not readable. This morning I had the same problem again. After messing around a bit it works again and can count right...weird isn't it? Did someone experience problems like that?

Happens to me every once in a while... it depends on the characters you're using... sometimes you type the "TAB" button by accident... this is NOT a normal SMS character and eats up a lot, it also corrupts SMS sometimes.

Just double check your characters.... also most accented characters, the the "..." triple period eat up more than the normal number of characters shown.

Yes I thought so too. If I copy the text of a messed up sms into a new one it stays messed up. If i re-type it, it works. Sucks really, there should be an option to disable not "normal" sms characters. Would make life a lot easier especially if you handwite msgs and you make mistakes.

happened to me as well when I used the P800 for the first few days. magically disappeared when I posted the problem here, so maybe yours would go away like mine did

anyway, just create a new SMS.

Check the character set in messaging accounts in control panel. U have 2 options... Try choosing between them.

P800, or rather Symbian, supports latin and non-latin character sets... non-latin chars occupy at least twice the size of normal latin chars...

I've noticed this too. It switches modes as soon as you enter a non-standard character (such as an accent) but will revert if you find and delete that character.

I just experienced this problem. It went away when I removed the apostrophe ' chars from my message - presumably it reverts to a 2-byte char set for these. That's what I get for using punctuation in an sms!
