I have just bought a T68 from orange UK, only to find the bastards have tampered with it. FIrst of all, instead of the usual charger, I get a cheap 450mA one. No pouch has been included in the box. They have also locked my phone to their network, asking for £35 for the SP lock code!

When the phone is started, after the startup aminimation, a blue dialogue box appears saying "Welcome to Orange". This cannot be turned off. Also whenever I access the service menu (>*<<*<*) another dialogue box is shown saying "personalised with MNC2", whatever that means. There is now another background picture installed - the orange logo. This also cannot be deleted.

Would flashing the phone help?? All I want is a normal T68!!!

yeah Orange always alter their phones in some way or form. They put it through much more rigorous testing that the other networks because they include insurance with their contracts (I'm sure T68girl will verify this).
Also, i didn't realise the charger was any different? So what is the current on other UK chargers? And I also didn't realise that Orange removed the pouch! I remember reading it but just thought that it never made it to the final versions.
Another note all Orange and One to One phones are locked to the networks but that annoying unlock code!!! There must be some software on the internet to do it!

Now to do with flashing....
Well you know it won't magically produce a pouch or charger but it may remove the welcome to orange badge, and NO it definately won't remove the lock to the network but I need to go into central London so I'm gonna find out if the dodgy shops in china town can unlock then yet

There is nothing wrong with your T68. It is perfectly normal.

this is perfectly normal for orange, they lock all thier phones to thier network.
As for the "welcome to orange" welcome note, i think this is actually programmed into your simcard, because what ever phone you put the sim in, it will say that message.

And be happy you have an extra background! i want more

I recently bought (3 day's ago), two T68's on one2one network and both of my phones are unlocked! One2One always lock their phones too but it seems they have not locked the T68. Has anyone else a unlocked phone on one2one?

I upgraded to the T68 on o2o a few weeks ago now, and my phone too is unlocked...bonus. Got mine from the cpw and as i understand it, they're allowed by o2o to use other stock from the other (unlocked) networks since they shift a lot of phones on o2o (or so i was told).

o2o did originally release the T68 before christmas and from what i gather they were all unlocked.

I bought one of the orginal T68 and I didn't get a pouch, however I bought my on Virgin but the phone was unlocked. Personally from previous posts I don't think the UK got any of the pouches, cos everyone hates us.

I bought my T68 on the day it was shipped out in the UK.(one of about 50 -100 shipped to carphone warehouse from ericsson) No probs so far - only usual software issues.

I got a blue pouch - so I presume blue pouches were only part of the original release.
