Hello,
It has been brought to my attention that in the latest firmware for the T68, R2B, you have removed the game 'Tetris'. I feel that this is the phone's best game (I still have R2A) and am unsure as to why a decision like this has been made by yourselves.
Based purely on the fact that this game shipped in millions of units when it first appeared on the gameboy and was the game that started the gameboy's unstopable user base, it is common knowledge that this is a widely enjoyed game. Not to mention the fact that it's theme tune had a top 40 hit in the english charts and has spawned a large number of also succesful clone games. I'm sure that if you check with Nintendo UK or 'T.h.e Games' (Nintendo UK's supplier) you'll find that sales figures for the original Tetris and all Tetris clones released on Nintendo systems have been extremely succesful.
It is current speculation on mobile phone forums at the moment that you decided to remove Tetris due to public demand, which I find hard to believe, or because or the memory requirements of the game. I find it hard to see how Tetris' memory requirements are greater than that of the game called 'game'. (It would be interesting to know the exact memory requirements of both of these games for comparison) If both of these games have similar memory requirements and it was decided that one had to be removed before implementation of the new MMS firmware for memory reasons I feel that you have made the wrong choice, Tetris although not an original game is extremely playable, where as 'game' seems to be a poor copy or twist on the brilliant space invaders which appeared on the Nokia 3310 and also shows how the LCD screen of the T68 is not capable of fast refreshes and shows symptons similar to those when playing games on old Dual Scan laptop screens.
In conclusion I would like to know your reasons for removing Tetris and would like to see Tetris put back on the phone. If you feel that Tetris isn't liked by the public I feel the fairest way to show this would be to propose a vote on your website where every one can have their say and the results are readily availible for the public to see.
Failing this I will have to show support for this game in a protest, by means of compiling E-mail names of those people who share the same view as me.
Thanks for your time and I await your response
P.s. Did ericsson agree to pay the creators of Tetris via a royalty scheme where a small amount is payable to the creators each time an ericsson phone with Tetris is sold? If so is this why you have decided to remove the game in favour of an in-house game?

Why ?
Why don't you just go buy a game boy ?
Sorry I just don't understand why a game on a phone is so important.
I'd rather no games were on the phone and the extra space/memory was put to better use. |

Two player was something i was thinking about! Damn i forgot to put that in the letter!
If it could be done via bluetooth it's be heavy! and yup the screen is big enough because you don't see the other players screen just an indicator as to how high their blocks are.
If i wanted to buy a gameboy to play games as well as carry a phone I'd buy a Communicator. The whole point is that it is an added bonus for when there is a little time spare and that fact that tetris was a highly enjoyable game made it even more of a bonus

Why isn't tennis standard on the t68 like it is on the t39? You can play over bluetooth on it.

nice letter
full support from me
my view is that although the phone's basic features needs to come first (eg. memory needs to go to features like address book/pictures etc first) they should sort out which is better game
i love tetris on both t68 and my old t28
game was good but way too repetitive
and although i havent played battle ship, i dont think i would like that over tetris and game
as for the guy who said why not buy a gameboy, the reason is that there are heeps of times where you are waiting somewhere and just want something to do
i have a ps2, psx, gameboy advance but i dont carry them with me all the time, so the games on the phone is all good |

The TETIS game is no longer on the T68 because of an Expired license with the developers/owners of the game. |
