Hi guys. I am fairly new to your forum here. I read here from time to time, but now I really need the help of the Veterans' here!

I just bought my wife a used ERICSSON T20s from a guy in the UK. I live in Washington State USA. The seller (from eBay) said it is an 'unlocked' phone. When I put either my wife's or my SIM card into it, and turn it on, it boots up like normal, gets to the main screen, and then always first just sais searching....searching....searching....for a bit, then always reverts back to saying: 'NO NETWORK'. I've fooled with every setting in the 'Network' settings of the phone, and it wont see any signal. I've e-mailed the buyer several times, and he keeps telling me that it worked just fine for him, and that it was practically new.
Then I take out me or my wife's SIM card and put it into MY Ericsson T39m phone (which I bought used from an 'ORANGE' user in Europe), it searches and reverts to V-Stream (which is my T-mobile account), just like it normally does, and works just fine (shows great signal). Does ANYBODY out there know what may be going on here? Is this phone really just SIM locked (even though seller told me it wasn't)? Or is it broken? Antenna and everything looks great, and phone doesn't look like it ever took any beating. I'm boggled.
Is there some easy fix for this? Bios flash upgrade, or something? Perhaps just some setting I got wrong?
Please help? Anyone who may have some advice

Welcome to Esato.

Well, if you are located in the US it's no wonder. The T20 is a dual dand phone. It doesn't support your network. Sorry.

Well I also have a T28 dual band WF and it work fine here. It's the one I used for the past 2 years before I got my new T39m which is tri-band. The 3rd band is mainly for Japan I thought? But this T20 I got for my wife, should be the same as my old T28. Any other thoughts?

Ok, yeah, I just figured out why my T28 worked on dual band. My old T28 World phone operates at GSM 900/1900 mhz (dual band). My T39 is Tri-Band, so of course it works everywhere. But this new T20 I got for my wife operates at GSM 900/1800 (also being a 'dual band'). And then research on various websites uncovers the fact that all of North America operates at 1900 mhz. So I didn't do my research, and I did buy a piece of hud. Oh well. Thanks for your help
Does anyone in Europe, Asia, Africa, or on the Pacific Rim want to buy a T20s in pretty nice shape for dirt cheap?
