Hi folks,
i am new to this forum and found it because i just purchased a SEP800. Excellent phone btw!
I myself am a software developer (or better know as programmer). I own a home studio which i produce trance/dance music in (nothing commerical as-of-yet).
Anyway i like these new polyphonic ringtones! I had an idea, it seems close to impossible to get good and new ringtones for free.
I was thinking of setting up a website with specific/requested and free polyphonic ringtones created by myself, this would be a donation based website. Basically if you like what you hear you can donote to help me keep updating it for free.
I would also have a mailling list where the latest ringtone information would be mailed directly to you (hopefully you have email setup on your phone!).
I have excellent musical knowledge and won various classical music awards while at college, i can listen to a song and almost instantly play it, so figuring out new songs should not be too hard.
The main focus of the website would be doing trance and dance music, but i will also supply rap and even some 'gangsta' just curiious to know peoples view on this and have some questions.
1) What do people currently use for ringtones (which websites?).
2) Would you prefer midi files for the ringtones or higher quailty wav file based files?
3) Which software is best for turning midi files into polyphonic ringtones? their is obviously alot of limitations in polyphonic ringtones as i discovered when i sent a midi file i created in logic audio to the phone !! Is their an advanced guide on the limitations, which instruments on which channel, etc?
