Just thought I would create a place where fellow esatoians! can let others know of their good and bad experiences with Insurance companies.
From what i've heard they dont pay up that easily as they used to..I mean I know of people who have just said things like oh i left it on the bus or i lost it whilst i was jupmping on a tube ! and they got a replacement the next day (this was like 2 years ago).
But now the insurers say that the phone has to be lost by force....what does that mean that you have to get punched in the face to claim !
Get posting !!!!................................

what it means is that you have to show you took reasonable care of your phone. as a phone like the p800 costs about £500 sim free, they want to know you're looking after it like you would a wallet with £500 in it.
you wouldn't leave the wallet on a pub table unattended, or lying on a taxi seat, so why should you be able to do so with your phone?

If you are a home owner then just add extra cover to your contents insurance.
Any valuable item such as camera, video, computer, PDA, phone etc. upto £1500 is covered at home or while out & about. Accidental damage & theft, new for old. Would loose the SIM card though if the phone was stolen which would mean I might have to pay for a replacement contract SIM.

yes they will, you just have to give them the sim free price as the value when you insure it, and get a quote from a shop if/when you make a claim.
the biggest downside to claiming on your home insurance is that your premiums will rise the following year, and the excess is generally higher. £100-£150 is not uncommon for a home policy excess. the other thing they may not cover for is accidental or liquid damage, or unauthorised phone calls if your phone is stolen.
