Another stupid American here asking about unlocked phones. |

I have a T68i with AT&T service. If I bought an unlocked P800 off of e-bay or something could I just pop my Sim in and have service no problem? Would AT&T be pissed if I did this? Also when will the new T610 or any of the others be released in the States? Thanx! |

It's SUPPOSED to be that way.
BUT... providers have the option to lock out any phone (unlocked/SIM-free) that isn't 'registered' on their system.
This means, that even if you have an unlocked or SIM-free phone, your provider can choose to have you come in and show them your new phone w/ receipt...blah blah blah... just so they can get its IMEI number and allow it access into their network.
I have no idea how US providers handle unlocked phones. Ask around.
But if the provider is NICE...and doesn't restrict unlocked phones... you can buy any tri-band phone (T610 & P800 included) and just pop in your existing SIM. |

I don't mind your post or your question but, is it necessary to say another stupid american?? I mean we are from alot of differenct countries here and noone here is stupid. Please don't use that in the same sentence stupid and american. I am american and I am not stupid as I am sure alot of other folks here are as well. Thanks.

Sorry, but I AM stupid. But I also had to specify that I am an American. So that way they would understand why I didn't have a clue. Plus its no secret that they have better mobile phone technology and thus they are definetly more capable that us. Maybe I could have worded it differently but oh well. Sorry, fellow American. |

The fact that they have "more advanced mobile phones" doesn't mean they are brighter than anyone else. Now I see why you said you were stupid, your logic makes no sense. By the way any Triband GSM phone can be used in NA or EU and even if its not available for retail here in stores you can still get any phone you want online. So there is no more advantage imo.
In the future if you wanna put yourself down thats fine, but don't take the whole American population with you, since we are far from dumb. Put yourself alone in that category if you wish. |

@MrSavoy, I just thought the guy was funny & saying "stupid american" was a nice way to get interest in his post.
Everything was fine & nobody thought americans WERE stupid until you came on the scene & took it personally, did it strike a raw nerve with you ????

@Fijbert, to be fair though, the world really must get together & deal with this evil dictator who has no concern for his own peoples rights & is hell bent on world domination, & sadam is becoming a problem aswell.

Damn Guys! I didn't mean to cause such a ruccus! BTW, I didn't vote for GW Bush. But I don't want to get off of subject. We might as well just go in an Blitzkreig him just on the principle of him snubing his nose at the West (that includes England or any other democracy). |

Fijbert don't get me started in a flame war. I was just commenting that I didn't like "stupid" and "american" in the same sentence. I am a proud American and thats that. As far as Bush taking us down. Heh, if some of you Euros would get soem backbone maybe Saddam woulnd't be a problem at all. Don't get me started dude. I don't wanna trade insults with you but I can with the best if thats what you want. I suggest we leave the thread to die.
