t68i and dual SIMs |

I have a dual SIM adaptor and modified battery for my T68i and both are manufactured by Cellular Line. These came, minus instructions, with the phone which i bought on Ebay
When I switch the phone on with this adaptor in use and containing two SIMs I am given no choice as to which SIM I would like to use. One of the SIMs is automatically accepted and the phone works as if in the single SIM mode.
Can anyone help me out with this problem?
Can anyone give me a link to a site with instructions for this adaptor, or can anyone offer to email me a file containing the instructions? |

As far as I can remember these dual sim adaptors work by switching sim card everytime you switch the phone on and off again. What happens when you turn your phone off and then on again?

I will try it out when I next get the chance. Something as simple as that never occurred to me as a possibility. |

Yes, turn off then back on to change sim. because of phone book problems & sms messages being lost & the long boot up time of the t68, these twin sims are not idealy suited to this phone. |

What phonebook problems and why are sms messages lost?

As the t68 uses the phone book on the "phone" memory as default, this means when you swop/switch sims you haave a phone book which may not correspond with that partricular sim. so you have to use sim phone book only, OR you can copy all to phone every time you sim swop. but its not ideal & as most dual sims often become faulty due to inferior contacts in the unit, it means when you think you have swopped sometimes you havn't.
SMS that are not saved on sim are lost as the sms is also default on the phone memory.
Sim swoppers worked fine on old nokias because sms was only on sim memory and phone OR sim memory could be used as default when viewing phone book, also when using two different sims on the same network (one pay as u go & one contract) because both have the same logo its confusing on a t68, but again on a nokia 8210 it was possible to use the costing menu to have a different screen message on one of the sims.
Anyway, keep using sim memory only, & save important sms to sim & they can be very handy, its easy to make expensive mistakes though if you forget what sim your on, oh & then theres all the missed calls...............
Also, some people when replying to a sms just press "reply" even if you tell them only to send to your "normal number" so you can end up constantly swopping from sim to sim wondering which number they sent that important reply to.
My guess is that you may end up with 2 phones like lots of people including me

Hello pachy
I had hoped for a serious reply but I did not expect one so comprehensive. I now fully understand the problem.
I suppose there are two comments I would like to make.
Firstly I do have two phones, one an old dual band Nokia and then other is my t68i.
The second point is that I have no real need of a dual SIm phone. The adaptor just came with the phone and, as many others on this Forum, I cannot resist playing with new toys.
The upshot is that I will revert to using two different phones.
many thanks. |

Dual SIMs is however useful to someone like me. I use a SIM from one provider as my "talk" number and the other SIM as my data access; I frequently connect by GPRS to check my mail. Huge difference is pricing between the providers prompted me to do choose this route. Can you advise me where to get the Dual SIM adapter? |

These adapters should have a switch on the back cover. They are not SE OEM products that's why you can't expect too much from these things.
