To other I'd just like to say that I did what advised above and two days later I get an email from T-Mobile with clear instructions on how to unlock my T300.

What these people are referring to as "SIM lock" is really called "network lock". What network lock means is that the mobile can only be used on the network of the carrier who locked it. When a mobile is unlocked, it can be used with any network's SIM card provided the mobile supports that network's frequency. Having an unlocked phone allows great flexibility for those who travel for extended periods of time allowing them to get SIM cards in the locations they travel to. |

no, they're not quite the same. A phone is SIM locked when it can only be used with one and only one SIM card. This means that no one else can use your phone (i.e. it gets stolen and the theif attempts to use their own SIM). If the phone is not SIM locked, but network locked, another user from the same network that the phone is locked to can use your phone by inserting their SIM card. |

Phone lock is usually set up by the user, i.e. you. If you have activated your phone lock, you should know the code that deactivates it.
Phone lock is provided for users to protect their phones - if your phone gets lost or stolen whilst phone is locked, NO ONE can use it with a SIM card other than yours. The downside: not even the network knows your phone code, although some manufacturers preset it at 0000. |

that email address has been deactivated for a long time now. call customer care and they will fill out a tk for you which will be sent to the simunlock team. then, the simunlock team will email you the unlock code/instructions.
