Bought me t68 feb 2002, Been reading esato (respect) about the newest software update,Decided to have a go, Whent to sony ericsson site to check dealers in my area.
Phoned first one and got no such number tone, Anyway several dealers later i still cant find a dealer that can do it.
One nice lady suggested i phone ericsson helpline, So after giving my paticulars she then told me nearest available dealer was 70 miles away !!.
So although the software update is free its not very common to have facilitys for software updates in my area, Surely this involves a pc and a device for flashing software ?, Anyway just thought id have a moan keep up the good work on this site.

Altough you'll be without your phone for almost a week you could send it out to them or next you visit a built up area (i'm presuming you're in the countryside to be 70 miles from your nearest dealer) you could just pop in at a branch there.

About doing it yourself, I would say its not a good option especially with a phone the software isn't readily availible and Ericsson won't give it to you - also if you get a bad / fake version of the new firmware your phone will be useless until you take it back to ericsson anyway.

P.s. if you upgrade to R2B you wont have TETRIS!

Dunno whether i would trust posting it, I work for a major mail company and seeing what goes on there puts me off, lol
Could send it recorded delivery but thats bucks too to make it secure...

I wouldnt really say i live in the sticks, There are about 5 sony ericsson dealers within a 30 mile radius of me and NONE of them have any facilitys.

when is it coming out?, ive read many different reports.
UK networks seem to be stalling the release for mms.
Some say until (dare i say it )nokia 7650 is released, If this is the case thats not until june in the uk.

the newest version is R2B013... it corrects many bugs, including problems with coverage, faster menus, new games etc... a more detailed list of what's new in the software can be found at http://www.tsixtyeight.com/

The new software version with MMS is said to be released on monday... waited to release the MMS support since no operators had MMS in their network, the support for MMS could actually have been in the phones from the very first T68 leaving production, but since no operators supported it there was no use of having it in the phone software.

It's only EMS (enhanced messaging service) that T39 supports and not MMS.

But even if your phone supports these new upgraded SMS formats, it won't matter if your SP doesn't support it.
