Sony Ericsson unveils T310 mobile phone featuring cult action sports game; Activision’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4®

Today, at 30 events across the world, Sony Ericsson unveiled the T310 – a colour screen mobile phone with a very strong gaming and imaging offering, which will begin shipping during this week in selected markets. Pre-loaded in the phone comes one of the best-selling video game console titles, Activision’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4®, which is making its European, Latin American and Asian mobile debut on the Sony Ericsson T310 mobile phone.
The T310 mobile phone offers great gameplay with its joystick and colour display, also taking advantage of its 32 polyphonic sounds and vibrating force feedback to bring as much as possible of the game console feeling to the mobile environment. Consumers will be able to enjoy the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4® game as soon as they unpack their T310. They can explore two different levels of skateboarding gameplay using several popular skater characters including Tony Hawk.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4® comes to the T310 though an agreement between Sony Ericsson and Jamdat Mobile, a leading publisher of mobile game content. Additionally, users can download other mobile phone games using the Synergenix Mophun platform, for which there are approximately 50 game titles available.
Together with the MCA-25 digital camera attachment and its MMS and email capabilities, the T310 is ideal for imaging and messaging. The T310 offers superior MMS messaging capability with personalized image formatting, making it possible to add frames etc to the images. Additional MMS Home Studio PC software, which provides an easy way to compose MMS-messages on a PC and then send them from the phone.
“With our T300, we were the first company to launch a color-screen gaming, imaging and MMS-phone for the mass market and with the T310 we further strengthen our product offering in this category,” says Philip Vanhoutte, Corporate Vice President Marketing at Sony Ericsson.
For its operator customers, Sony Ericsson will offer advanced gameplay levels for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4®, as well as other action sports titles including Kelly Slater’s Pro-Surfer™ and complete packages of MMStemplates, screensavers and polyphonic ring signals based on the music from the games. These will take full advantage of the 32-tone polyphonic capabilities of the T310, which further enrich the nuances of the music and sound. Additionally, other Jamdat games including the extremely popular Jamdat Bowling will come to the Mophun platform as part of the Sony Ericsson – Jamdat relationship.

For the US, there will also be a GSM 850/1800/1900 version called T316 launching in Q2.

looks like an updated t100 too. SE does not have any design ideas left. they are like nokia nokia updating a same phone then giving it a different model number. such a pity! |

T310 look much better than all earlier post.
the blue colour version is nice.
The differences between T300 and T310 is significant lah.
Nokia just tweak the phone a bit but T300 and T310 have totally different dimension and outlook.
The software changes though not significant but I think SE will not follow the path of Nokia |

i think following nokia's path in releasing new models is good for sonyericsson. it provides continuity of popular series. however sonyericsson makes it two steps ahead than nokia. by the way t310 is around us$355.
