I apologize for those of you who are tired of people complaing about the differences between the T68i and the T300, but I'm relatively new to the whole thing and it's become enough to make my hair grey.
First off, this forum has been very helpful and I thank everyone for that. I, not too long ago, aquired a T68i, and for a while I thought this phone was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Then, about a week ago I learend about the T300. With Polyphonic ringtones and games that seem to put most handsets to shame, I figured the best has been made better (getting past the design not being quite as cool) and that THIS was the phone I could stick with for a while. Well, long story a little less long, I now own BOTH phones (T300 is on its way, being shipped) and I'm no longer sure which way to go. Now, perhaps I'm just naive, but I don't see WHY the T300 has the shortcomings that it has, that being no callendar, voice dialing, or bluetooth. I understand that this phone is marketed for the non-business types, but really... was the damn thing so packed with Polyphonic ringtones and a Mophun engine that they had to leave out the most basic features that damn near ALL phones have?? Now, if you're like me, you can live without Bluetooth since you still have other hands-free options. Maaaaybe you can do without voice dialing, though I think it's worthwhile, but... no calendar? Come on. Perhaps someone out there can set me straight, but I have NO idea why these features had to be left out of the T300.
I'm a practical guy, so I will probably choose my phone more for functionality than fun, but I'm not askin' the world for functionality here. I really wish I could just get those few features on the T300, for then I would be sold completely. Polyphonic ringtones are really fun, and sometimes having good entertainment on your phone makes life better. But kiss my ass if I can't see what date a particular day falls on if I need it. I dunno. I'm open to any replys. Anyone know if a firmware update will EVER be able to put voice dialing and a calendar into a T300? Any info or input is appreciated. Plus, it's a free forum so enjoy your freedom. Go nuts. Thanks for listening. Take care.

Well... you could always argue which functions should be left out in the low-end (or maybe I should say mid-end) phones. The T300 is not targeted at "business" people like the T68, so SE probably left it out because of that.

There is something called "reminders" in the T300 though, which might be enough for many people.

It all comes down to what you want really. I'm very happy with my T68, but the T300 is a nice phone as well, although personally I don't care that much about Polytones or the games (which are great by the way).

But, since tomorrow is THE DAY there might be hope for some people

What I mean is that tomorrow SE will show some new phones. The T310 and probably the T610. The T310 is probably some kind of improved T300, maybe there will be a calender in that one.

Bluetooth is so far limited to the High-end phones. And probably will be for some time to come...

What kind of phone would you classify the T600? A low or mid end phone? In Singapore, I have seen quite a number of youngsters using it - on trains, eating places and even my work place.

IMO, it is a cool phone suited for the young and trendy... definitely not a business phone. But look what does it have....??? A calendar!!!

Omitting the calendar in the T300 to me is a big mistake...

I agree, les. Furthermore, I still fail to understand WHY they had to omit it. I'm still holding on to hope that it's possible to restore the callendar and voice-dialing to the T300 with a firmware update. If it is, then all I gotta do is find out who I have to tie to a F*!#ing train track to get it done.

Does the T300 have selectable message alerts?
If so, that feature alone would make me want one.
It is much better specced, BT is utterly useless, I would NEVER wear one of those ridiculous headsets or be arsed setting it up to connect to device, I would hardly ever use.
Only problem, it's one UGLY phone.
You can get it off expansys.com for Ģ150 sim free as well.

I own a t68i and t300. Much prefer my t68 out of the 2. Also have a siemens s55, guess it has best of both worlds, poly tones java for games and apps, and pretty much everything the t68i has.

bigjobs,
Yes the T300 does have message alerts that you can set for a certian date. So, that IS comprable, but I still think a calendar is pretty essential, not to mention basic. As for the phone's looks, I hear that it's not nearly as bad in person. I'll post further on this when I get mine. But it's not quite the baby-blue brick pos that it looks like on the SE site.

@John M
Couldnīt agree more! I had a t68i but think it was too slow and buggy and iīd never ever consider the t300 (or t610 for that matter) because of their IMHO dog ugly looks. That leaves the S55 at least for a reasonable price, and that is why i bought it.

I might be wrong, DUSK5150, but I think bigjobs is asking if you can change the message tone. Which you can't do, unfortunately. [addsig]
