Does anyone know where I can get a software update for my T68 in the United States? I'm currently stuck on the old R1B and would like to update to R2A. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!!! |

Hey there....I am in Miami and I just got my T68 upgraded. Need to send it to Ericssonin Wisconsin. Call them first to get the right info---1-800-374-2776.
I should take around 4 days to be done. Be patient with the service. They are a PAIN. Bad customer treatment! But no other choice.

Is there no way to flash it yourself? I just purchased the T68 yesterday and I really don't want to send it away. Did it arrive back without any scratches and the same condition as you sent it? What firmware did they upgrade to (R2C)?
Thanks.

I've just bought the T68mc in Hong Kong. Does it use the same firmware version as the English version ? |

Got mine on Ebay for US$500. I see them here in major cities for sale on the Gray market for US$375 w/ service agreement now.
Two US GSM carriers have been rumored to begin carrying it soon: VoiceStream and AT&T. |

All you need is an "unlocked" GSM phone. You could either join Cingular, ATT, or Voicestream depending on your region. I am stuck in California in which only Cingular is available. But I think ATT will be offering their GSM service soon here. |

There are two options I have heard of:
1. Send to Wisconsin
2. Send to a guy named "Rob" in Philadelphia.
Rob is an active participant in the ericsson forum on howardchui.com his name is Ke3ee, I think. Rob charges $25 and you pay for shipping. It sounded a little sketchy at first, but aparantely hundreds of people have sent their Ericsson phones to him and I haven't heard of any complaints.
I still have R1b. I am waiting for the picture Caller ID function in the next firmware release to upgrade my firmware.

I called ericsson and they told me to send it to an address in Minnesota. My phone was bought in China and had the T9 english text support missing, so that means, I should be getting that new version that came out 3/4/02. They don't charge anything for the flashing (upgrading) just as long as your T68 is still under warrenty, and they can find that out by referencing the numbers on the sticker under the battery. Everything was simple and easy, but it does take them a while to get it done, considering its been a week already and they just (today) called me and told me they just got the phone in their factories for the flashing. Just expect a 2 week wait, but for those who cannot wait that long, tough luck... we're in the (seems like the only) country with no support, and no public availability for the phone yet. |
