HBH 30 and P 800 problem?? |

I am trying to "answer" calls using a HBH 30 and a P 800 and as soon as I press "ok" on the handset to answer a call the sound gets transferred from headset to handset. Very incovenient.
There is no problem in mking a call. As soon as I dial a number the sound transfers from handset to headset.
I had the same problem with the T 68i until SE upgraded the software. Then I was able to "answer" a call simply by pressing the "yes" button on my handset and the sound would be automatically transferred to headset.
Does anyone have an answer to this?
Has SE been stupid enough to make the same mistake on the P 800 as they did on the T 68i? |

Well, I think this setup is more logical... the call is answered on the unit that responds first. Sometimes I forget that my HBH-30 is in my pocket, and I press OK... the call is answered in the handset. When I press the button on the headset, the call is taken on the headset...makes sense to me.
I hated it when the headset would ALWAYS answer the call regardless of which unit responded. |

Assuming you have the latest firmware "R1D", first of all in control panel/connections/bluetooth/ highlight the HBH30 and then check the box "allow to connect without confirmation" Then in phone/preferences/handsfree be sure to set the preferred device for sound as the headset instead of handset, that way when you answer it will go directly to the HBH-30, however, you can do a quick double click and the sound will transfer back from the P800 to the HBH30 if you leave the preference as the P800

From applications menu, select View/system information. You should have R1B or later, if it is "R1A" you need to get an upgrade. The important version is for the phone and PDA. The Bluetooth version has remained the same so far through all new upgrades. You will have to send it to a service center or someone who can flash the phone with the new upgrade. R1D is an improvement over R1B with regard to bluetooth operability. It will look like this:
The latest firmware will look like this:
Bluetooth menu should look like this:

Thanks for this BUT I do have the latest software upgrade R1D and I still cant answer incoming calls with the handset without the phone automatically transferring sound to the handset. I want to be abled to press "ok" on my handset and for the incoming call to be heard in my HBH30. This was the case with my T68i - why not with the P 800? |

does anyone have a solution to this problem? It's quite urgent as I'm disabled and can't answer a call by using the HEADSET answer button. I'm only able to answer calls by using the HANDSET answer button. I was able to do this on my T68i after a software upgrade - why not on the P800?? |

Sorry, but if you answer from the P800, the call is automatically taken in the handset. It does not work the same as a T68i, but, you can then switch the call from the P800 to the HBH-30 via the transfer control which is accessed by pulling up on the jog-dial or by pressing the menu button on the keypad. |

I also use a HBH-30 w/ my P800. I have no problems answering calls using the headset button. The call is switched in 1 to 2 seconds. I have my preferred device set to handset cause I sometimes have problems getting the HBH-30 out of my pocket. The problem I get is when I make a call on my P800 then switch to the HBH-30 while its ringing. When its answered, the HBH-30 transfers the sound back to he P800. It alwas trips me up since I'm expecting the call on my headset and not on my phone. Weird.

Starhawk,
Mr.Beep said he was handicapped and can't answer using the tiny button on the HBH-30, therefore, he was looking for some way to answer from the P800 but have the sound automatically be transferred to the HBH-30.
If you have current P800 firmware, a quick second bump of the HBH-30 button will transfer sound back to the headset if it doesn't stick with the caller answering. |
