What does this have to do with the P800?

If you're trying to convert files into MP3 using Windows Media Player... YOU CAN'T!!! BWAHAHAHAHA!!! WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF MICRO$OFT!!!!

Sorry about that...seriously, I don't think you can do that. Microsoft will only allow conversion into it's own proprietary format WMA.

I'm really not sure though... I use Creative Labs' Play Center to make MP3s

You can always download mp3s using kazza lite.
Or do you want to record your own music as in someting done by you?

@davey... you have it easy! As long as the file is an MP3 already... just place the Duo inside the included adapter, then insert it in your MS slot... then drag MP3s into the Music folder. That's it.

Now for conversions... well, I really don't know any free MP3 converters out there... I'm sure other Esato members would know.

download an application called audiograbber.. its under 2mb,install,run, insert ure music cd and simply click on 'grab'. The application will convert ure music into mp3 format... takes about 10min to do a whole cd.

Let Windows Media Player rip & store your CD's & MP3 files (which will put them into your My Music Folder.

Then use dBPowerAMP Music Converter (free) from http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm

You can then highlight the music files & when right clicking them you have option to covert music to any format (mp3 of various bitrates included).

I convert the music to 96kbs mp3's before I put them on my P800. Any lower and they sound crap (in my opinion). You can't play wma files or get benefit of mp3pro files on the P800 (see other message I left in earlier thread).

By the way, I also use a Memory Stick USB reader with my Duo as data transfer is so much quicker than through cradle (not a problem with a 16MB card but will take ages when 128MB cards are available).

Nero is quite useful for this also, in the file encoder settings.

Use power amp, if you download the correct codecs, you can contest to ANY format. Can make ringtones as well, just convert the sound to wave file. Grab a little chunk of audio though if you do wave, as wave is huge

ditto.. I have been using 20 secs for wavs as it seems to be about 15 before the voicemail kicks in.

You doing about the same?
