t68i clock too fast |

Hi,
I just bought a new t68i. I am quite happy with it except for one thing: its built-in clock is too fast by 2-3 seconds/day. I think it is really unacceptable, e.g. the N6110 which I had before was precise up to 1 second in a month. Do you think it is normal or should I try to get it repaired (or changed)?
Thanks for any help,
livius

Thanx. Is there anyone else who has checked that the clock in his/her t68i is more/less precise than that in mine? |

You need to be more specific,
If the clock is just fast then reset it (the seconds should start at the point you ok the new time settings.
If you mean it GAINS by a few seconds every day, then that clearly is a manufacturers fault, although this fault is highly unlikely.
BTW are you sure it's the phone & not the system you are using to check it against.
Also why would 2 or 3 seconds be such an issue, you will surely lose more than that off your life expectancy by worrying about small things

Even a chronometer certified like rolex or an omega loses more than the 2-3 seconds time differential. If it really bothers you,do have ur phone sw checkd or the internal battery (for the clock)if the t68i has one.

pachy:
It is fast 2-3 sec/day, i.e. every day it gains so much. The system I checked it against is my computer synchronized to clocks in the network to a precision surely better than 0.1s.
Why I worry: You know, in Switzerland one minute already counts , and that means that every week-fortnight I will have to adjust the clock, a real headache.
ynohtna:
I have not got anything checked yet, because I just bought it brand new on Wednesday.
The question is whether I could complain about this. Do you think that it will be considered as a manufacturer fault, or should I bow to it?
(One point of view would be that the phone is fully functional, also, the clock works at a certain level and since it is just an extra service, there is no real standard to which its precision is to be compared. At the moment I could not argue much after getting this answer from a salesman.)

If you pay full price for a (supposedly) premium product you shouldnīt hesitate to complain about whatever you find faulty/substandard. I surely donīt! I couldnīt care less if the salesperson shakes their head and roll their eyes at me
If it was on sale or second hand it would be another matter though.
Donīt settle for less than perfect!
Cheers!

I wouldn't worry about it. At that rate the clock will only gain 15 seconds a week or about a minute a month. If that's your biggest concern things are good. |

no harm in trying. |

The T68i should have an auto-update of the date and time feature. Like ntpd for unix. That would be good.

Thanks to everybody for the advices.
I got the phone checked. They claimed to have run a ``quartz test'', which passed. The clock is still too fast 2-3 sec/day. I also checked a friend's phone, which drifts 1 sec/day. It seems that that this meets SE's standards, which I find sad, but I can live with that.
(To those who asked: yes, 2-3 sec/day does count. Being late by 1 min for an official meeting is already an offence here, and it is inconvenient to keep in mind continuously when I last set the time. If you pay ~400 euros for a phone, you expect to have a quartz inside which is better than that in a 10 euro wrist watch. Especially since power consumption in a mobile phone can be 100 times more than in a watch.) |
