Hello,

I got my P800 a couple of days ago on orange in the uk and love it. However, when I go into the standard browser, and try to access any type of page html, wap, nothing happens. The browser eventually times out.

The GPRS blue bar at the bottom left is active, when i click on it i get GPRS Attached, so I assume this is all fine. When browsing if I click on the World icon on the bottom, It says bytes sent 0, and bytes recieved 0.

I've gone to sonyericsson web page and requested new internet settings, which also don't work.

I'm not sure whats going on, I contacted orange, and they are ringing me back in 72 hours.

I've searched the archives, but not seen anything like this.

Anyone got any ideas? Maybe i'm missing something stupid, but I can't see it.

Thanks.

Does e-mail work? Have you tried downloading Opera and using that?

I've got the same config as you and it works fine.

Hi

I also have the same problem on my Orange P800
I can get into the front page of the orange smartphone website but then the network status in the bottom left corner says Logon failed when you select it.
It's a bit of a pain. Very tempting to just get the phone unlocked and use my t-mobile sim :/

I have a similar issue, but ONLY the built-in browser and e-mail works 100%. Anything else, like Opera or Tipicme, shows the same results you're getting.

ok have u got ur gprs setting to just gprs and NOT gprs-wap?

if it's the latter it will not access a normal web page and will time out. ?? set it to gprs only when accessing normal html based pages.

uv probably tried it but it's just a thought. [addsig]

I've read in a previous post that Orange take 24 hours to set up gprs. Have you tried connecting using dial-up? Or using opera with the phone in the cradle? Hope you get sorted.

Hello,

Thanks for all your comments. I had the connection set to just GPRS only.

Well I decided to do a full reset, and hey presto, it seems to work ok now.... a bit worrying that i browsed 3 or 4 web sites, and used over 500k..... i'll have to be careful....

Thanks for your help

Well it worked once. Not working again now!!!! I'm getting login failed messages, and Internal errors. I guess I'll have to wait for orange to call me back....

I had similar problem, it was just a network problem/sim problem which orange sorted. Do think 72 hours is a long time to wait, Id phone them back earlier if i were you.

Do not set it to gprs only.
You will not be able to receive calls or sms!
Automatic is the best choice and it has nothing to do with gprs working or not...
