We are developing a wap-icq gateway that will allow anyone with a icq-account and a Wap-enabled phone to receive and send icq-messages! This gateway is now fully working but we would need some beta-testers.
If you want to help us out and also be able to send/receive icq with your phone then mail us the following information:
Your name
Country
Phone brand and model
Your ICQ-UIN (ICQ Unique Identity Number) that you want to use when beta-testing
Mail this to wapmess@awesume.net and we will contact some of you with information about how to get things started.
NOTE! We will announce here when this site goes live or any other news regarding this matter is available! Do NOT mail questions, post them here instead.

You can do this now already without WAP.
Also, you may want to check out ICQ's own WAP gateway. Works fine with my provider. |

I have never been able to get wap88.com to work properly  Just some http 500 error message every time I try.
and as far as the ICQ's own gateway is concerned, it has to be supported by your gsm/gprs provider which is not the case where we live and therefore not for everyone.
That is why we have developed an own gateway. Anyway, anyone who want to betatest it just follow the instructions above. |

When you use GPRS you pay per byte (MB) you download/upload. Our wapmess is optimized to use as few bytes possible when communicating via the icq protocol, that way it is much cheaper to use wap-icq than to use a java-icq that do all the communication directly on the phone. Quite a lot data is sent/received over the icq protocol... 
Also, Wapmess is designed to be as easy and straightforward as possible to use , everything is aimed to save time/bytes for the user. |
