3310 - T68 Signal? |

I have just brought a Ericsson T68 SW R2D005, I't hasent been delivered yet, anyway I currently own a Nokia 3310, at my area I only get 1bar signal on my 3310, sometimes 2bar on a clear day. I want to know how will the T68 perform, I have read some people getting bad signal with T68's.

all hansets can suffer from bad signal. my t68 is not noticably worse than other phones where i am.
the chances are it's down to your network having poor signal where you live, and you'll get the same 1/2 bars as on your 3310.
the other thing to bear in mind is that the 'bars' of signal strength are arbitary anyway, as long as the phone can make calls, there can be 1 bar or 100, i'm really not bothered.
finally, the t68 pisses all over the 3310 features wise, so i reckon you're going to enjoy it. welcome to esato and to 
they don't make them like they used to |

just use your handset outside of your house - I have to sometimes as my siganl can be good one day but not the other inside - it's not guranteed.

with O2 i used to have to walk in teh middle of the road to send a text on my NOkia. now i have t-mobile and a t300 and it's fine

I got my T68, good phone:). The signal is worse on it than the 3310, which means I cant get any signal in my area, otherwise it's a good phone.

Yes, i too live in an area with bad reception and i recon this is the only bad thing about the T68, the reception is a little (not much) worse that the Nok!a phones. I guess Nok!a have had a few more years experience in developing phones with internal ariels. |

It is not only the antenna issue. In the recent SE series the phones are very conservative on power this means less power output amplification etc etc. But the phone lasts lot longer. I guess SE is presuming that majority of the users are living in urban areas and with power coverage and they design in that direction.
I live in Singapore coverage over here is very strong (strongest I have ever seen any where on the world) used and using SE and nokia T68i and 8310 (8310 I have service menu to see real signal strength in db). My T68i respond better and lot longer (relative comparison) in Singapore. But when I travel in to Malaysia or UK esp when in rural coverage Nokia outperforms SE. I have used both of these with external antenna couplers too it does not make any change.
BTW do not really believe what the signal bar shows it is adjustable by the service center. They can make a low signal look strong or vice versa. Also gain controls and power output are adjustable too.
I did in the past change the power setting of my 6510nokia (poor old phone) but then the battery was draining as if it shorted.
Hope clears some of the questions..
