EEEK !! GPRS phone bill...... |

Hi All
Just got my bill through from T-mobile this am and was astounded that I have been charged £42 for 'mobile data'.......2714kb's worth,.... nearly £14 per MB !!!
Really anoyed as Orange do £8 for 4mb bundles,... Vodaphone £7.49 for £1mb, £17.50 for 5mb,.... and lastly O2 at £15 for 5mb. How do they justify the charges ??? All I have been doing is checking my emails daily (only headers) and downloading the odd ringtone or picture here and there.....nothing excessive at all. (my call charges were only £4.00 so that gives you an idea how much I use the phone).
I read in another post that they had some sort of deal for gprs where you could pay £20 for ?MB....I didn't think that I would have to use it as I didn't think I used up that much data but at this price I can't afford phone bills of £65 + (with all other inclusives) every month...!!!!! Anyone know or has got this deal form T-mobile could you let me know what it is about and what to ask for. I would be very grateful...I can't change networks for now....
Now I'm off for a lie down with a cold flannel over my forehead........

Vive la france ! In france gprs is really cheap... 6€ for unlimited access... And/or 6€ for 10MB for pda... On SFR... Orange is more expensive...

T-Mobile are the only network to charge by the Kb and not to have any form of inclusive bundles.
They do charge everyone 2pence per Kb.
I haven't done the math on your bill, but 2p/Kb is the correct rate.

Yes I knew they charged 2.2p per kb......but when you do as little browsing as I do......doing a brief 2 minute email check int the morning and occasionally downloading a (mainly mono old 80s hit) ringtone here and there, my usage didn't seem to me to be that excessive....... I had no idea I was racking up the bill so much and so got quite a nasty shock !!!!.... I am a 32 year old mum of 4 so downloading fancy graphics/themes and polyphonic tones isn't that much of a priority for me lol.....So am a bit bemused as to how I managed to get the bill so high by doing so little (?)
Perhaps a warning to other T-mobile users here who only do what they assume is a little/moderate amount of browsing.....Be very careful !!! 1mb doesn't go very far at ALL if you use them.....
Anyone got the details of their £20 bundle package please ???
thanks

I posted many times about GPRS being a stitch up in UK after browsing on an ipaq for a while, but 2714kb is about £54 so you have been under charged hav`nt you.
But you get an indication of usage on your phone & you knew the cost per kb, so why are you surprised at your bill.
In UK the mobile networks seem to be trying to get the huge amount they spent on 3G contracts back through GPRS charging.
Orange have been giving free MMS for 2 months in the hope of people continuing to use it when it becomes chargable on 1st March, but i will wipe the Orange settings & go for NowMMS acount for MMS.
Reminder; milk, sugar, crisps, post letter. |

Here in the Philippines, Globe Telecom has 2 gateways, one is free...but it has restricted access to only WAP sites, a few XML, and mostly their WAP services.
The other gateway Globe has is for full internet browsing/surfing. This gateway is billed per KB both ways (up and down stream) at a little less than ¢1/KB , €0.008/KB of data or about €8.5/MB , US$9.2/MB of data. So far, no plans for unlimited or 'plan' rates. |

Hi All,
Thank you for giving my wrists the slap the so richly deserve Pachy.....I am crap at maths so pointing out I have been undercharged by £12 when I am whinging at having to shell out around £15 a mb GPRS charges is also MUCH appreciated......I guess one should be grateful for small blessings eh !!!...and T-mobile should get a hearty clap on the back for letting me off too.....perhaps I have been a bit OTT in daring to question such ludicrous charges ??????!!!!
Seriously though, my message is posted mainly in a sort of 'be careful of what you are racking up in charges' sort of way. I concede that I should have been adding up every byte/text message/picture message/call time down the the last second/gsm wap times/ tec etc down to the last penny.....but I am a bit too busy for that and tend to round things up or down a lot. I was a bit shocked that my 'rounding up' fell far short of what I got billed for. Especially in view of what the other networks are charging.
I assumed that ALL the networks charged around the same 2p per kb but that by opting for a bundle......you got money off (as in call plans). So was a tiny bit miffed to see what others pay.... Orange £8 for 4MB, T-mobile around £14-15 for 1MB.!!!(???).....That is why I am shocked.....and that's why I posted to warn others. Especially those who are reading these boards and are deciding what network to plump for as regards GPRS.

How can they justify those kind of prices, its just crazy. I'm on Orange pay as you go and GPRS is only £4 per mb. |
