Of course the file will be bigger... WAV is UNCOMPRESSED. MP3 is a compressed sound file. There is no such thing as a compressed WAV.
There are a few ways to reduce the file size of a WAV though, but it will DRASTICALLY reduce the quality.
1) Reduce sampling rate from 44.1kHz down to 22 or even 11kHz
2) Convert from Stereo into Mono
3) Convert from 16-bit to 8-bit
I hope you'll just use these WAV files as ringtones... cuz after you do any of the steps mentioned above...the file will sound like an old AM radio. |

@santana:
as JPLacson said, that's the whole point of MP3 files.... COMPRESSED music.
Though you may want to try converting the WAV files to Beatnik. Seems to sound good. |

Oooh Yeah! I downloaded one from somewhere, cant remember where thoug, and as a ringtone it sounds really grand! I tell you, when my phone rang on the tram this morning I had three independent queries about my phone afterwards.
