Anyone know of any news on if the PRO is even going to be released?

Kind of sucks that Amazon jacked up the price for the headphone bundle version.

they didn't jack up the price per se. the preorder bundle deal expired at the end of june. now it's just a standard bundle.

i could be wrong, but I don't think 5G is hardware disabled on the 1ii. I think it'll be possible to flash a euro ROM and have 5G enabled. that being said, 1ii doesn't support any sub6 bands that are available in the US. you're right that the PRO would be able to use mmwave here in the US, but only in cities that provide it and only on carriers that provide that particular band. to be honest, i don't think 5G will become that widespread here in the US in 3 years. mmwave coverage is minimal at best and limited to portions of large cities due to its range.

4G is fast enough for me. There's also tons of wifi around so I'm not too concerned about it. also, at least for me on att, i don't even get 5G service unless i'm on an unlimited plan, which I am not.

I reside in NYC and have T-Mobile. With how aggressive T-Mobile is deploying 5G, I think they'll blanket all the area I'll be in. Ultimately, I'll be able to benefit from it.

It lacks the sub6 bands used in USA. I think Pro have them.
It is not necessary to disable. Just they did not include the bands.
I believe if you travel to europe, it will work 5G.

i'm in NYC too dude and on ATT. I'm not on an unlimited plan though, so no 5G for me even if 1ii supported it. Tmobile, even with sprint merger, doesn't have the sub6 bands supported by 1ii.

understand your wanting to future proof. I will be keeping my 1ii for 3 years minimum as well. I'm still using my XZP and the only reason i'm upgrading is because a few drops too many has made it act buggy, not to mention a totally shattered back glass.

1ii Pro will have mmWave, which is fully supported in by AT&T, at least, here in NYC. Not sure if Tmobile has MMwave networks and if they do, they have a supported band. $1200 for the 1ii is already painful. the pro will likely be $1500 if it's even offered to the general public at all.

if tmobile starts pushing out more sub6 bands - i might switch! haha. keep me posted

Finally took the time to look at the bands the PRO support. It does support both mmwave bands that T-Mobile use, but not the low(600mhz) and mid bands(2.5ghz). Now I may actually have to rethink my thoughts on getting an Xperia, despite the 1 II and PRO is practically my ideal phone minus the support(or full support) of 5G.

@moogoo Seems like NYC has all of T-Mobile's band's turned on right now. You might as well switch! lol. I do have an unlimited plan, because it's one of those old grandfathered plans, it's dirt cheap. I can use as much 5G as I want.

@MNX1024 - 1ii doesn't support Tmobile's sub-6 bands. so even if i were to enable 5G, I couldn't use it.

Information on why 5g is not supported in America is as stated. Because the channel is seldom used in other countries. And if Sony installed that frequency channel the production would have incurred more cost.

I got my Xperia 1II two weeks ago. I won't go into too much detail right now, but the device is excellent.

However, I suspect I might have a hardware issue with the telephoto camera. Maybe you guys could help me out here.

When I shoot with the telephoto and point it at a strong light source, I get side flare, even though I place the light source exactly in the middle of the frame. Usually, if one wants to avoid this kind of flare and reflection, one would place the light source exactly in the middle of the frame. In my case, only when I place the light source a little to the left do I avoid this flare and reflection.

It is as if the sensor isn't perfectly aligned with the lens. Or it could be an OIS issue?

I've also noticed that when I shoot at night with the telephoto and use a tripod for a long exposure, I get motion blur for no apparent reason.

So I wonder what the hell is going on...

Perhaps someone who has got the 1ii could check this out on his device?

don't have mine yet, but when I get it, I can test this out for you. strange to get motion blur if you are using a tripod. the only thing I can think of is that there were still vibrations in the surface/floor the tripod was standing on and those are amplified when using telephone AND long exposure. Might want to check that out.

As for the flare - not sure what you're talking about. post a pic?
