Hi all,
Long time since I have been on Esato last time was not the happiest as was for the goodbye Masseur thread.
I still see a few old names I remember such a ofiaich San, Goldenface, >500, moogoo and McKinley so far.
The last Ericsson phone I had was a P910 and it's taken me a long while to return to the spiritual successor to Ericsson phones now Sony.
My current phone is a Pixel 2 which is nearly 3 years old now and whilst still performing perfectly on seeing the Xperia 1 2 I just really wanted one badly especially after seeing the reviews. The fact that Sony only lightly skin Android was huge draw to me and there is no way I would even consider a Samdung or a phone from brands I have no idea who they are and forget about Apple as that's a non starter for me.
Although taking pictures or videos is not one of my passions or strong points the multi media on this phone looks amazing for listening to Music and watching videos and whilst one of my passions is now watches I expect to hopefully take some amazing shots of them with phones camera.
Anyway ordered my phone today it should arrive tomorrow first time I've been really excited about a new phone in a very long time. But getting one now just made sense to me as got what I feel is a great deal from Carphone Warehouse. Basically interest free credit for the phone over 24 months with the bonus of 100GB Data and unlimited calls and texts for 24 months to just made sense to me.
Anyway looking forward to interacting with all here and learning about my new device and having fun with it.
Marc

The 1 II has won the What HiFi Best Smartphone Award and got a 5/5 rating...

They normally always give the award to iPhones so it was a big surprise to me. The iPhone SE won the best under £500 phone award |

I've been with X1 II for 4 days. Incredible audio quality from 3.5mm. No doubt why does it get a good score.
Camera wise. Color accuracy is great but it's a big no no for highlight control and seem photo's somewhat soft.
SIM/SD Card tray has a bad quality.

capture raw if you want to control highlights. Sony doesn't use oversharpening like samesung thats why it looks soft

Yup, Huawei too. I still have Huawei P20 Pro with me. Color accuracy suck. Well controlled highlight and oversharpening.

Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) asks the question that’s been haunting Sony
Mentions a few things, including the long wait between announcement and launch, that we've been talking about here on these forums forever.

Busy watching this, hopefully someone at Sony who knows someone high enough is also watching lol. He makes some great points.
What’s crazy is that Sony Xperia could easily be THEE Apple iPhone competitor especially in the USA when you consider the sheer amount of vloggers/influencers who use Sony cameras for their YouTube channels, especially with our “new normal” where even News anchors are having to depend on home setups, Sony own the camera market they could easily merge this with mobile, I believe that was the point of the Xperia Pro? By the way where the hell is the Xperia Pro? That should have been the biggest gadget of 2020 for home setups lol.
it annoys me so much that so much potential continues to get wasted, Sony still standout as the “Apple of Android” to me, their devices still ooze premium and quality versus all the other stuff that is currently out.
Hopefully the new structure at Sony will allow more collaboration and budget being freed for Mobile to truly flourish.
by the way is the Xperia 5 II really the 1 II successor? I thought there would be a 1 III to replace the 1 II, this is confusing...

Premium lineage release has always been summer with exception of Z5P:
Z3+ - June, Z5 Premium - November, XZ Premium - Jun, XZ2 Premium - July, 1 - May, 1II - May
