This shows sales went up.
Of course more sales do not mean more money.
The other board puts sales of cameras , lenses and phones together.
They sold less cam gear. |

Cost down can be in many ways.
Less people working there, another suppliers, less devices per year etc ..
Does not mean phone will be the previous but 1% better.
L3 has NFC, USB C, Gorilla 5, Bluetooth 5.
Dont you agree that would be cheaper for Sony to make it without Nfc, gorilla3 and put micro usb?
Or flagships without IP rating, no stereo speakers and sticks with 1080p like BBK and Xiaomi?
That would be a huge cost cut. More than plastic midranges, isocell cameras and smaller batteries.

I can't, but Google Translate can
Net sales and operating income of Electronics Products & Solutions (EP & S)
3Q FY2019 (YoY) Net sales decreased 62.7 billion yen (9%) (exchange effect: Δ23 billion yen)
(-) Decrease in sales of smartphones and TVs
(-) Impact of foreign exchange
Operating income increased significantly by ¥ 14.1 billion (foreign exchange impact: Δ6.1 billion yen)
(+) Reduction of operating expenses mainly in mobile communications
(-) Impact of lower sales
Forecast as of February 2019 (compared to October)
Downward revision of sales ¥ 40 billion (2%)
(-) Downward revisions to sales forecasts for televisions, digital cameras, and business equipment for broadcasting.
No change in operating income
(-) Impact of elimination
(+) Reduction of operating expenses
The Mobile Communications business continued to be profitable in the third quarter due to ongoing structural reforms.
In the fourth quarter, we will implement measures to further implement fixed cost reduction measures with other businesses under EP & S.
In addition, in the fourth quarter outlook for operations, we expect large one-time expenses mainly due to these measures, but we are steadily restructuring our business structure to turn a profit in the next fiscal year.

Only compared to the previous quarter, when Q4 is traditionally the strongest quarter anyway. Looking at all the previous Q4s there is a general trend downwards. If the next Q1 sees a rise in sales compared to the previous Q1 then that will be good news.

You still not get the point.
Let me tell you what they've done.
Disbanded antenna design team
Using inferior parts such as isocell and shitty fps.
Using dated PCB and structure design which caused poor battery.
They just want build a flagship which is just so-so and not cost too much money.
Finally, they sold it as higher as Samsung and apple. Then they can get more profit.
That is just in product.
They've already done something else that you guys don't know but I knew

As high as Apple? LOL.....
Are you aware outside USA, even cheaper models like Xr/11 can easily pass $1000?
Samsung flagships surely have higher profits per unit.
In house components are always cheaper than buying from someone else.
Bills of materials of note10+ is cheaper than iphone 11 pro, despite being better hardware.
Come to LATAM, you can choose between a $658 Samsung A80, $446 Motorola zoom, $846 LG G8s, $547 Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro, $1023 Xiaomi mi9, $951 Samsung S10, $1786 iphone 11 pro max 64GB.
Most shocking part is when someone tells me he stopped by xiaomi store at the mall and mi note 10 was over $1300.
No way Samsumg makes all that money with Mobile when 80% of sales are M/A series without huge profits margin.
Except Huawei, Google, OnePlus and Apple, in 2019 all other brands mixed Exmor and isocell.
