So basically an incremental upgrade over last year's 1? I'm ok with that. I think the Xperia 1 and 5 are great devices. With some incremental improvements, tweaks, and changes, it has potential to be a great device.
So is the leaked camera array all BS or just the specific specs of the sensors and such? Any info you can provide is greatly appreciated.
xperia 1 and 5 are two good devices, but in 2020 sony has to make devices much better than that one since everything from other manufacturers are growing rapidly. going half step ahead instead of one or two isn’t going to help this company survive.
i’m not sure if the leaked camera array and spec were wrong but the info given by those sites aren’t accurate at all. i assume that some informations they got right were only coincidences, they just made it up. i’m not allowed to say anything though, so sorry about that. all i can say is that some old features will be back and the little details will be improved, not as radical as the transition from xz3 to 1 though but i’m still not sure about that since i only knew the informations about the hardware stuff, not in detail.

i didn’t know there’s a sony phone with multi frame nr or ibis before... nonetheless, the old features i was talking about are probably 2-4 years old, not a decade old
there you go, i have given too much hints already

Those that have used z4/z5 know pretty well the difference between cold and hot days.
Despite both having copper pipe inside.
Does anyone at least know the colours to be used on this phone?
Of course black is one, always is ....

*sigh* I don't have to be leakster to call it bullsh*t. No sane company would put money into R&D to not use it in global product. Sony has history of releasing Japan only models, but usually they differ in just a name (mostly because cultural differances).
Device we know as X5+ is perfect incremental upgrade, so I wouldn't get so hasty. Most likely they managed to use that unused space in curved areas, as they showed it year ago with X1 announcement, so we can welcome back headphone jack and front facing stereo speakers. Using new ultrasonic fp sensor allows to use it in US without paying Cupertino. Also you can clearly see there are 3 cameras (wide, ultra and tele) + ToF. Most likely they just exchange standart 12MP wide for 48mp and use it in default 2x2 12MP configuration. I just hope they will finally show us proper camera software... |

I knew about new finger scanner. Patent was filled last year.
Hope it helps to avoid patent issues.
It is not clear if the "1.1/1 mark II" is this "5+" or something else not seen yet.

Interesting info.
So if Sony doesn't uses electrostatic fingerprint sensor, they have no patent issue by using integrated FP sensor with power button? |

Apple has rights over power/FPS.
I dont know if patent specifies button on the side.
Moto Razr is having screen issues just like Fold and Mate.
This tech is huge failure.
Hope Sony stays away. |

Not really new info but 3 devices to be unveiled at MWC and all of them to be 5G ready. Possibly a 4th shortly after the event which will have 4G connectivity.
I'm so happy 'cause today I've found my friends ... They're in my head

Using an Xperia 1, I have to disagree. Their camera software isn't perfect, but it's very potent and filled with unique features. |

The Xperia Cera software is slow and clunky compared to every one else. The viewfinder image is lower quality, especially when zooming. Bokeh is slower and lower quality. Time to save is much longer, on others you can take a photo and click the thumbnail nearly instantly but Xperia 1 takes a few seconds at best.
No dedicated night mode is unusual now, even entry level models have it.
The auto HDR is better than it ever used to be, and does perform well when it works, but it's hit and miss. You can take 5 photos in a row without moving and they won't all have the same processing.
The UI looks dated, and is especially slow to switch modes or cameras.

Also using an Xperia 1. The main camera and the wide angle camera are pretty good, but the software is not perfect. Too slow to switch camera, slow to save, slow to compute night shots etc. Also not always providing the expected result. If they would just optimize the code (fast, consistent etc.) it would help a lot. Manual mode is really strong on Xperia 1 and I appreciate that Sony is not overdoing all the computational "fake" fotos (fake night shots, fake bokeh, fake light/contrast/colors etc.) |

oh and I forgot to tell you guys that this damn company will make a stupid decision at mwc, you’ll see what I mean later (basically, it’s similar to what XJ has said before).
