And @Hawk, let me rephrase. They claim the giraffe shot is shot on 2x optical zoom only. The text under image reads ~2x. If it's indeed around 5x that means they did extra zoom to make X1 look bad.
The 5x they claim also would have 7.22x. If there's not a mix up or an error on my part this means they are busted. |

I understand Verizon is the one with more clients in USA and few phones can work with their network.
But after the issues with FPS and Z4v cancelled, I would not deal with them.
Better deal with T-Mo.
PPL ... I will check on computer, on tablet now. Ipad gallery does not show exif. I am confused by what they wrote. If the both photos (palace and giraffe were done by 26mm and 52mm or just 26mm. |

I shared the online exif reader. You can Google one too. The image they say is taken relying solely on its optical zoom is taken by the 52mm lens, exif shows f2. 4, but it also has a digital zoom value of 2.18. So this adds up to 4. 36 like Sidney says.
Only way this makes sense is that they pinch zoomed from the 26mm and the software calculated the digital zoom differently. Because if you subtract 2 from the values we reached it makes 2.36 and 5.22x zooms but this is a weird way to store this data.
I don't have X1 or x5 so I can't replicate this.
Anyway the 8 gig ram midrange sounds unlikely. If there's one it'll probably be limited to Asia. If it's global, I hope Sony does not make the mistake of marketing this as an affordable flagship asking North of 600 dollars. Or it'll fail like Xperia X did.

The issue with X was the fact that except CPU and audio it was not better than M5.
Now if they make one with 765, 5G, 8GB/128GB, triple cam , HDR screen, IP68 and at least 3500mAh for less than $600 is not bad.
Other brands have midranges above $500.
I am starting to think the "10.1" has 665 and "9.1" has 765.

With all that it'd compete with x5. Also it'd be hard to keep it under 600. That's all I am saying. If all you said is 550, maybe it'd have a chance. But I think they'll target iphone 11 around 649.
Take x5, remove telephoto, swap Oled with LCD, swap metal with glass fiber polyamide or co-molded aluminum, downgrade the gg6 to dragon or gg3, 64gb 4/6 gb, remove SD and cam button if you have to and that's it. Sell it fot 450 instead of a crappy midrange.

1x shows as 1.0 digital
2x in low light using the main camera shows as 1.96 digital.
2x in good light shows as 1.0 digital.
10x in good light shows as 5.1 digital.

Even HTC that is in much worse situation is selling a strong midrange below $500 ..
U19e = 6" Full HD hdr oled, SD710, 6 + 128 , sd slot , dual cam (wide / zoom) + dual selfie (wide/depth), IP68, glass body, stereo boom sound, usb 3.1, 3930 mAh, iris ID, fm radio.
It is possible.
Bonus : again someone edited exmor wiki. An unknown sensor (nameless so far) is there with 12MP 1/1.5" , 2.1 micron and DRAM. The part where ppl put the device that uses it, is written Sony exclusive..

Then it's confirmed. They deliberately tanked Sony.
Should we contact Sony about this? If they sue them this might bring publicity to Xperia.
Hawk, HTC didn't release a flagship AFAIK. So they can do this without undercutting their own flagship. I don't expect to see anything that's a good value from Sony but I'd be delighted to be surprised.
Hope 2.1um pixel sensor is true. Samsung with nonacell has 2.4. Would be a good match. Hope 1.2/2.4 variable aperture is also true. That'd be the largest ever on a phone. |

The 765 has an integrated modem. 865 doesn't, according to tech sites. Could be the reason they wanted to use it for a flagship-like phone. It could also be Japan only. The 82XX is usually the regular flagship right? As long as they keep the price in check it could be anything they want. Could be X5 lite, to compete with rumored S10 note10 lites. |

Haha if these upcoming new mid range using snapdragon 765 with 8gb of ram, I guess its time Sony is coming out with full force (likely including minimum 4000mah battery )
