I doubt mark iii will have more than 12MP.
More MP = less speed.
This is why they advertise as pocket A9 ii ...

at this time being, I don't think sony will increase the resolution to that much. Also, instead of increasing the resolution, it's better to improve the current resolution, as it's more effective.
Daily Drivers: Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S22 Ultra, and iPhone 14 Pro Max Secondary: vivo X80 Pro Still using as a backup: Xperia XZ2 Still using (not as much): Galaxy Tab A 8.0 |

I think they may just increase size.
To 1/1.5" or 1/1.4".
Is 5ii being announced in early setpember or later?
IFA was canceled, but looks like is no longer.

I rather they maintain current photo size and changed all their sensors to their own house sensors. Or Own house specific sensors just like the IMX 557. ALSO IMROVE ON MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY~~ |

12mp is 6k right. How the zoom for current phone? Overall quality and night shot? I have been away for so long not up to speed with current Xperia. |

Closest distance around 12cm away from subject using 24mm lens. And of course the subject will be small. In order to magnify, one need to digital zoom using the 24mm lens to desired magnification, maximum up to 70 mm (still kept at minimum focusing distance of around 12cm), and digital zoom will have pixellation resulting in detail loss.
For the 70mm lens, minimum focusing distance is around 45cm away. Definitely no point using it.

Do you know the Sony Alpha rumors?
The guy (Andrea) always receives tips by anonymous sources, one of them has semt this to him among info of sony alpha cameras.
" sony will bring a “press”smartphone. it is a a hybried of the RX100 VII and Xperia 1 II. it has a permanent viewfinder, not Pop. has a Flash hotshoe LOTS of Input, even Lan arca swiss ready..
I think they will just announce its development, like done with Xperia Pro.
Camera market is shirinking, but compact cameras are losing market even faster than ILC.
So, they should just kill RX100 and let Xperia take over.

They could be working on such device, they might or might not release such thing but RX100 is not going anywhere. It's in the market of it's own when it comes to compacts. |

Xperia with 1" + 24-70mm true zoom would kill sales of rx100 series for sure.
Phones have more potential to bring more 💰 ....
Months ago there was a post on weibo about one xperia with one rear cam + tof. The cam would be more than 1" exmor.
Compared to jan-mar, in apr-jun sony sold more tv, xperia and PS, but less cameras.

It's time that they give it all to Xperia. The camera market is unsalvageable. They already did their part but the time isn't giving the camera market any more favors.
The cameraphone industry keeps on advancing and demand is all time high. |

Sounds very interesting. I imagine the price would be well over £1,000.

Panasonic released a smartphone/compact-camera hybrid a few years ago. They did it twice. The last one was released in 2016 and had a 1" sensor.
panasonic lumix dmc-cm10
Samsung had also released such a hybrid model
Samsung Galaxy camera / galaxy S4 Zoom
