By the time the Xperia 1 gets released, the Note 10 will be knocking around the corner.
Sony is messing up this release so bad. If rumors about the Note 10 is true, then the Xperia 1 will feel very obsolete already when it goes on sale.

Xperia 1 was obsolete the day the Samsung Galaxy S10+ arrived and then even more so when Huawei P30 Pro became official.
What is great though is that the Xperia 1 has a unique display and will standout (tall) in a phone shop, that could get more eyes on it.

Xperia 1 is dead on arrival big time now... S10 and S10+ are meh, nothing special, but P30 Pro is really powerful and awesome device, big battery, incredible zoom and low light! Beside higher res screen, Xperia 1 has no advantages at all... Sadly nobody will care about it when it gets released in June, by then everyone will either buy S10, P30 or Xiaomi Mi9 etc...
I am pretty tempted by the P30 Pro. Huawei is leading the innovation at this point, Samsung fell behind!

Shame about the late release for X1 . I am tempted by it but only if camera is good . Sadly as above posts said most people would have bought other phones by then. Hopefully some reviews will be published soon |

I doubt that it can beat competitor's camera.
I still want to have it as it's the only one android brand that has premium bumper case for.

It doesn't need to be the best but if it is premium it has to be pretty good. Even Huwaei 30 pro has compromises .. no 4k at 60fps video recording , no super slow , front face camera has no autofocus. My point is all phones has comprises but in saying that if this is a premium phone camera should be pretty good otherwise it is not worth it |

A comment from the rumor thread:
6799 Yuan is $1011, little enough to consider it $999.

Yes that's absolutely right the P30 is the trailblazer for now.
Huawei is trying hard and get rewarded accordingly, whereas Sony is taking shortcuts all the time.
I hope the things that have been leaked about the Note 10 are true.

It's sad to admit, but I agree.
Let's hope with the restructuring of departments, it means next year's flagships will be worthy of the Sony name.
Xperia 1 is coming way too late and costs way too much to compete with samsung or huawei. but maybe that's what sony wants? they've always been happy with releasing niche products to specific users, like their super high end stuff meant for audiophiles. Xperia 1 isn't exactly on that level yet, but it definitely seems to be meant for niche users vs the general somewhat educated consumer.

Sony gives us features no one aren't too excited about to see. The 21:9 ratio makes no sense to like 99% of the users. A better camera with more features will always be something most people will appreciate.
One very annoying thing is the lack of wireless charging.

Making the screen less wide to make it easier to hold one handed? Making split screen usage more effective for each half to show more vertical information? Watching movies fills up the screen more due to the wide aspect ratio? There are valid uses for a 21:9 screen

The tall aspect of the screen has it's uses, without a doubt. More than anything, though, it will stand out on the shelf.

I am really hoping the camera will be good though ( for example in low light, etc). Otherwise at the price requested (849£) i won't be interested. Really liking the 10plus though, so add a better screen and camera and of course better cpu may make it into an amazing phone |

So the last rumor I recall said the phone should drop at the end of this month, right? Hoping that means we'll see some hands on with it pretty soon |
