The design will get better, it seems. But still lacks innovation. Still waiting for another leaks to prove my point, though.

rumor about image processing. from japan
they developed new image processing using snapdragon's high performance AI, provide the quality never seen before.
+ Internally, they give reward to the development team.
in internal test, HDR quality exceeded google's one.

i think sony doesn't use OIS because they think their sensor and lens are enough to get quality photos in low light. and EIS for video has been working very well for them, even in low light. So, there's very little motivation to add OIS other than to keep up with other flagship specs.
personally, it would be nice if they did add it, as it would just improve their imaging that much more. but it seems like sony isn't the push the boundaries company they used to be.

That's what I would call... overconfident

nah, i wouldn't say it's overconfidence. if that were true, they would do what they're doing but still project much higher sales. but they have always lowered their estimates.
sony has always gone against the grain and did their own thing. if it's anything, i would say it's stubbornness or the simple failure to understand their customers.
all these "leaks" on xz4... it really doesn't feel like a next flagship to me. why can't they just release a single cam with 48mp and some really stellar image processing and tricks?

What make you feel like that ?
All flagship come with additional camera and it's worthy.
Except the pixel which still has some disadvantage.

Additional camera is always better
There are somethings that software simply cannot do
2x optical zoom, wide angle shots how can a single camera hope to achieve those |

Stubbornness and being so so late to change. Its not possible to be the innovator all the time and sometimes you do need to copy or use others as inspiration. The moment the S7 Edge came out it Sony should have been looking to shrink bezels whether that uses a notch or curved edge. Since Sony hands out its sensors they should have really produced the best images from day one. Also, why ditch the headphone jack with the intention to get people buying Sony headphones when people don't even buy Xperia, doesn't that dramatically cut sales? Its a mess, a friend told me that the lay off of so many people recently has not gone down well:
'They could come under lots of pressure to produce magic with not so much budget'
'They could be slowly shutting down - Sony could never admit it publicly though'
'The new boss better know what he is doing because they are only a year away from being HTC'
Sadness and uncertainty, the 'XZ4' looks promising based on the renders but lets see what happens. |
