So after claiming they'd be the first with 5G then backing out, people expecting a folding phone from Sony that just posted the worst sales in their history? Nonsense. |

If they're really developing and planning to release a foldable phone in the near future, then they're out of their mind and too dumb. They can't even take care of their regular smartphone business, instead they're starting to develop something that's way ahead of today's market. Their smartphone business is struggling and they didn't seem to be aware of that too much, because of how easy they think they can get rid of their loss, by combining the sales into one (EP&S division).
They should've thought on how to take advantage of huawei's misery and especially do something about their mid-range and entry level phones. It isn't an acceptable behaviour.

I know they have stuff made in China, this USA/China story may increase prices. I think not only for Americans.
Most of SONY headphone is made in Thailand.
My WH-1000XM3 are made in Malaysia. |

I am actually looking forward to Sony's foldable phone. It could be a new chapter, sort of a reset in the flagship race and maybe a good opportunity for Sony to rise (especially considering how Huawei is out of the picture at least for some time). I am certain Sony can do a great job with this concept and if done right, this can be a new breath of life for the mobile division.

Are we having only more two devices this year?
Any chance they changed their minds and decided to make Compact again?
It is very weird that one the upcoming has slot near bottom like Z5c.
PY7-48130K found yesterday has slot on top. Probably it is the one called "X2" or "X1s".
PY7-04605Z was found last week. Not sure it is the ne called "X20".
I think if they made one with 12,72 x 5,45 cm screen there would be people interested. |

I still dont understand this.
How can people find info about upcoming devices when they dive deep into the software of current phones?
I hope this 5G is not just a 5G version of 1, but something more.
5040x2160 is necessary, 12MP is too low.
I am also confused about the egyptian names.
They usually are japanese ... Keyaki, Yoshino etc ....

Tony ... The 119 points score is real? |

The Asus flip camera got 98 for selfie, that's a rear high quality camera used for selfie and it got a score only 1 ahead of the S10 actual selfie camera. Surely the Asus would get over 100? The rear camera has to get 98 because it's the same camera.
Anyway, regardless of the Sony score on DXO I wouldn't get one unless the video stabilisation is massively improved because I take lots of video. From the low light samples floating around I don't think it will beat the Pixel 3 but that's the way I see it. If it gets the same score at the S10 then that's all that matters for marketing. |

S10+ has a photo score of 117... Sony's new post processing algorithm which it does in raw before converting to jpeg might get it 119 points in photo. The only place in photos sony is lacking with xperia 1 is dynamic range or HDR...
Asus is a different story. It's post processing is just not as good as other flagships and I doubt it can get a score of 119 even in photos as it doesn't have OIS or a telephoto lens. It got only 1 point extra in selfie because it couldn't get better score in still photography as it's exposure is very low in low light compared with S10+. DXO also didn't factor in the wide angle camera for selfies which should have increased the score even further. Asus video in 4k @60 fps with EIS is the best I have seen. Sony on the other hand doesn't have 60fps in 4k and neither that good Stabilization.

The 119 I am asking about not photo score, but final score.
Rear cam has zoom score, selfie does not.
So Asus will have no more than 32 for zoom.
SteadyShot is still great in 1080p.
The mode set by default on all xperia.
The studio photos 5 lux are done with tripod.
Which means Xperia forces shutter go 1s and lower ISO.
Accoding to what I have seen, The zoom seems better than s10.
And bokeh much better than Pixel.
