They are doing it because screen 21:9 are much smaller.
XA2 Ultra : 99.2cm2 (16:9)
XA2+ = 92.9 cm2 (18:9)
10 = 84.1 cm2 (21:9)
3580mAh /99.2cm2 = 36,02mAh/cm2
2870mAh/84.1 cm2 = 34,12mAh/cm2.
And of course, smaller battery will make the factory costs lower.
That is what they want.
We all know that they prefer to earn money by cutting costs than having more sales.
They ignore that no matter battery life, costumers get impressed by battery capacity.
Before MWC, a user on weibo said that from Xperia 1 all flagships would use only 4K screen.
Is it true?
Gsmarena says 2 has 4K, it did not see that info anywhere else.
Bonus: Motorola One Vision with smaller 6,3" and 500mAh more performed 67h on gsma test, 10+ scored 78h.

I don't think the X2 will have 4K. I even doubt 2K since it'd make 600ppi. It wouldn't cost less than X1 with that high ppi. ZodiacX said 1234p right?
That X20, wasn't it rumored that there was a SD710 X10 for Japan? Might be it. What's keeping Sony from selling fps+power device in the countries other than US? |

Nothing. But it is cheaper to make all units equal than two different versions.
If they try deal with Apple, they need to pay how much Apple wants.
You know how greedy Apple is.
Since there's only one button I think it must be just for Asia.

Well, it's not like they are selling a lot there. Why do they even bother with US. Maybe they are looking to change that since they abandoned the markets they are known, for US where they barely exist. |

You cant succeed in USA if you dont sell through carriers.
Especially Verizon and T Mobile.
Sony only sells unlocked phones to earn more money, but in the end they lose clients.
Midranges are able to work with Verizon.
It may help a little.
They work with carries in other countries, I dont know why not in USA anymore.
I am aware of the Verizon issues in 2015, but it is not excuse to avoid new deals with other.

Why would the Xperia 2 have the camera on one side as opposed to the middle? Looks crap because you have 3 protruding sensors.
I tried the Xperia 1 recently and I thought it was fantastic, particularly the camera editing software. Big problem is that it's very tall so it kills your thumb and it will only fit the jeans of a basketball player. For that reason you need the Xperia 2 to be under 6 inches. It's not even up for debate. |

On internet I see many people that try to use thumb to reach top of screen instead of using both hands.
I dont understand why.
I dont have giant NBA player hands, but mine are not small.
I have been using a Samsung Gran Prime that has size of S6.
I cant reach notifications, phone has just bit over 14cm.
Why ppl try to do it with devices that have more than 15cm?
Unless someone has much bigger hands, that's impossible.
And reviewer, usually from PA complain.
Holding with one hand and using the other index is much easier.
Also prevents injuries.
Few years ago a NBA player got his finger hurt because his cellphone.

I can use my P20 Pro with just one hand and my thumb can reach every point of the screen without problem.
Maybe 6.5 21:9 is too tall and would be a problem. I want to try that and see if it's really a critical one.
More curious on the camera quality...

What's up with this 2013. design of Xperia Ace? Do people in Japan really do not give a f**k about new trends?
I cannot believe that someone gonna buy such device.

The good thing about the Xperia 1 is that it's narrow but still awkward if you do split screen for example. It is possible to reach the corners but you hold the phone loosely while you do finger gymnastics and that isn't a nice feeling. As much as I want one I know that I'd get sick of it like the XZ Premium that I had.
Xperia Ace is excellent if it costs no more than £100 with it's retro design and retro specs. It's amazing that they didn't just use the XZ2 Compact design and went for an even older design. I just don't understand, it's like kids are running Sony Mobile. |

Well, knowing how bizarre Japanese people are (no offense anyone) we should not be surprised with all those weird moves Sony Mobile is doing... They should leave the leadership of mobile division to European or American staff which understand market, trends other crucial stuff a lot more. |

Japanese people dont have bezelfobia.
Iphone 8 is extremely popular there
Probably A2 was too.
So they made new one with newer internals.
Price is US$ 448
