Can't believe we have 4 insiders here (that I remember).

Tony, Zackbuks, Badassmam, and XperiaJunkie.

mobile vr isnt strong due to gpu limitations but in a few years mobile gpus can achieve ps4 level raw power.so at least we can see ps4 level vr applications, and also tof can be used with different ways.

adreno 630 has 1/3 performance of hd7850(ps4 gpu levels you can check gfxbench scores) new adreno 640(sd855) will probably have 1/2 of it, in 2021 with 3nm fabrication mobile gpus can achieve same raw gpu power and with a lot stronger cpu.with checkerboard techs they can achieve even better resolution then base ps4.

if you ask me it'll be unavoidable threat to even playstation brand.i hope sony is thinking something about it.
just imagine a foldable phone with ps4 level gpu,better cpu with vr capabilities for 2 years later.

People are still debating whether next gen consoles will have hardware ray tracing, so I think it's definitely not showing up on mobile anytime soon. There will probably be software implementations, if there aren't already.

Looking further into the future, I am still curious if Sony will provide more integration between their mobiles and PlayStation. They keep saying that they're keeping the mobile division around because of its importance in having a testbed for 5G and other techs, and we've gotten patents from them showing off the idea of PlayStation tablets, like this:

https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/sony-handheld-patent-switch/

My thinking is that as PS5 gets closer to launch (current best estimates are end of 2020) Sony will be expanding their PlayStation Now streaming service onto all mobiles and other devices. By this point in time 5G will be more widespread, and that extra speed and (hopefully) significantly larger data caps will be necessary to allow for a quality experience of playing console level games on mobile. By keeping Sony Mobile going Sony will have their own in-house mobile team to use for testing and improving upon those services.

This is just a guess on one possible reason they're fighting to keep the mobile division going. Hopefully in that time frame they can also turn the division around to make it profitable.

First of all, WELCOME Zackbuks.. Sorry I behaved wrongly.. But you see, it was necessary.. Someone could have been faking it.. It might have been the person who should not be named!

And secondly, Alvin.. I am new here.. I mean I joined last year but as I remember Joseph, whom everybody addresses as Jo is an insider too? If not insider, he has links with an insider?

I meant those so-called insiders have links to Sony so I can call them insiders. And what do you mean by that @unfadedghost? Did you create an account just to tell that to us?

@madmiraj oh yes, Joseph too.

Their mobile division is falling apart, disorganised, and in a chaos as of now. They should take care on what matters the most, while also taking care of others. One wrong step and good luck selling even 1 million of those phones per year.

Sony lacks integration (as what other have said before), connectivity, and consistency in their products and software. That's very worrying to me. It's good that they're trying to get some attention this year by launching phones with 21:9 display but looking at XA3 series. But that's not even close to enough for me. Yes, I can tone my attitude and greed down by holding my judgements until at least D-3 before MWC, but I knew they're going to sell those phones more expensive than many of their competitors. Looking at how great the market will provide this year, they're not even going to survive that well.

They can do nothing in 2017 and do bad things in 2018, but I don't think they'll survive for too long if they're doing those stuff in 2019. They're going to get worse than HTC, if that really happens.
