P800 Successor: More Info |

I can confirm that there will be a new P800 successor. It will be available around the end of summer time 2003. I would imagin official details will be released soon from Sony Ericsson at a major exhibition.
What will it have?
It will be around the same size as the P800 maybe a bit smaller. Better camera, more memory and a hard keyboard aswell as a touch screen. I've been told that it won't be much better than the P800 just an alternative format with a few extra features. The P800 is still worth getting now.
Dont expect the same sort of delay with the new phone as with the P800 because the hardware is already present in the P800 and it would not be hard to update for the new phone. That's all i know so far.
Info is from a reliable source. |

what??? a hard keyboard and a touchscreen... makes no sense. If it is going to be the same size then it means the touchscreen will be smaller (stupid) or the keys will be microscopic (stupid).
get us some photos!

i havnt seen any picture so i cant comment just wait until you see it until you start making comments. i can only imagin that it will be something like palms new tungsten. but who knows until SE release some more info on it. people are too quick to put a product down before they have even seen it. |

That's because you're an idiot. You obviously have no idea how the industry works so i would love to know how you know these things. |

to me, it sound a bit like the new CLIE using symbian OS
it's using palm5.0 now, with 2mega pixel camera (with flash) a keyboard and a touch screen...of course the list go on.
could be logical since one of the owner of SE did tht on Palm platform. |

It's gonna be like the P800 except 320x240 screen, 16-bit screen, and a bit thinner (thank God!!!) And the video application will be included in this one... and I'm not sure, but the official video recorder for the P800 will be released pretty soon too... there were a lot of bugs... but it should be out for download by June. :s I know that's still a long way off... but I highly doubt they can make it by March. |

It seems that the only feasible way 2 have both viable keyboard and large enough touch screen is 2 have a clamp shell design... Like the 3G...

Or a keyboard slide, like 7650 and the SE proto p900?
A big touch screen and a real keyboard with a joystick, the best of two worlds. |

@Froddan... oh man!!! I loved that concept P900!!! God! That was beautiful!!! What happened to the designers who made that?!?!? Why are we stuck with soap bars??? (Meanwhile, Nokia & Siemens seem to be duking it out to see who can come up with the most F&*%$ up keypad layout! )
For me, the P900 was SE's only good design. Ericsson had the best designs for me... Sony really didn't contribute anything design-wise... they actually made things duller. The P800 still has a lot of Ericsson influence... most of the lines & curves are from Ericsson's existing portfolio... thing is, they TRIED TOO HARD to make it look 'hi-tech' which I think is their biggest mistake in terms of SE's current design portfolio. |

No it isn't... the early concept phones of Ericsson proved that. They were about the size of the P800...and the P900 concept prototype looked really good! |
