Many sites test the default setting out of box.
Default for Xperia is 17MP ( 16:9).
This resolution turns off dual cam and goes back to Motion Eye only.
So, dont wast time to watch most of tests during the year. |

@NCT96
Week long battery life is not possible without new battery technology or significant trim of the system functions - like Super Stamina, which basically reduces your phone to featurephone with big touchscreen. We have so far heard so many times that newer Snapdragon generation is 40% more efficent, but there is no such differance in real-life battery life of the devices. So unless Google put some miraculous new technology inside Android P, we will not see smartphones lasting week without charging for couple more years...

Actually, 40% better battery efficiency really helps your phone's battery life to be better. Galaxy S9 for example. It has the same battery capacity to its predecessor but it performs better, even though not as good as its competitors. All SD845 phones have always had a good battery life (maybe except U12+).

Yes, but battery life was supposed to be alreary almost twice compared to SD801 devices.
Every year Qualcomm promises 20, 30 or 40% less consumption.
And newer phones also have help of newer android versions.
Maybe if Z3/Z3c had 8.0, they might be able to outlast many phones from 2017/18.
@spec Is there limits to the amount of data AUBE can handle? It is frustating to read that 19MP is restricted to RGB sensor. One of the best things Sony did lately was allow full resolution for AS.

This comparison show me how important optical zoom is...

Too much different...

?
Do you mean optical image stabilizaton?
Yeah, the XZ2P pics are a definite step in the right direction, but I don't know if it's a lack of OIS or if the AUBE chip isn't properly merging the pics together, but there's some amount of blurriness or almost like a double image in some of those pics, more easily seen in the comparison at the very bottom.
Other than that, the XZ2P does a darned good job overall. |

According to eprice you if are too close it the merge might fail. Then you would see half gray half colour.
When you select dual cam the base ISO for manual is 200 instead of 40.
Max resolution is 17MP ( 4:3)

OIS is important indeed but I was talking about the zoomed in result which the P20 Pro does better than the XZ2P.
BTW I want OIS more than optical zoom anyway hahaha

The zooomed in ended up 2 x 2
P20p was better: the outdoord and boat.
Xz2p was better : food and chandelier
The boat, p20 used 6s shutter against 1/16. I expect to be better than u12, iphones 2018 and note 9. Not p20 pro.
The 1/1.7" gives too much advantage. Of course mate 20 pro will do even better with kirin 980.

and I think OIS is required for that 6s shutter speed.

Here's another one. There's nice comparaison and also an iso crescendo picture set that show evolution of noise with iso augmentation. It seem's good til 3200-6400. Not bad at all. I like what I see!

There's also this one but there's no full rez image

Sony should at least to post a video to explain the whole thing.
It is getting confusing, the articles so far.
It is not clear if you set AUTO DUAL CAM for Auto Superior it will indeed use both always or just when phone believes it's necessary.
Will the user be able to use both in daylight? Does it work for 4K/4K HDR?
Why is base ISO 200 instead of 50? Does it work for macro?
Answers for these questions are bot clear..
By the way, it is indeed very impressive the fack you can easily read the names of the books at ISO51200.

It has many more pixels to accommodate and the pixel size is actually smaller. Visual appeal of a picture doesn't mean it is better.
I also believe that Sony will upgrade the software over the coming months.
I suspect the XZ3 will take another step forward in terms of ability and quality of the camera. |

Did we ever get a real answer on why the XZ2P is taking so long to release? I imagine it has something to do with the camera, but did we ever really get confirmation? Spek? Anyone else? |

I agree... I think XZ3 will do better shots than XZ2P.
I saw a comment on mobile01, the user said something like : IFA is coming, 😁😁😁.
The pre-order started in some markets ( east Asia).
Bokeh comes in august as update.. |
