Very interesting new device just pop up, "arima37_64_sm32_n1" or "arima37" for short
In the same family as Xperia L2 (Ranger), Alps family, same SoC (MT6737T) and better camera than L2 although same megapixels (IMX135 vs L2's OV13855) and FHD panel like XA2 series.

Can anyone confirm this?

I think this is the new low range device preparing for IFA 2018

maybe H44XX/H34XX already confirmed at uaprof, with 1080x2180 screen.
where did you find the name? do you have firmware version #?

Considering L2 already H43/33, maybe

But the panel res I found was 16:9 1920x1080, not that 2180...

One last bit I forgot to mention: the device I found only list 1 type of sensor as IMX135, not 2 like old L2, so I think both front and back maybe 13MP too...

sorry, I meant 1080x2160, not 1080x2180.

the similar discrepancy happened before.
When H82XX and H83XX first showed up at Uaprof, it was showing 16:9, not 18:9. Then they were deleted and came back later with 18:9.
So maybe the same thing happening here?

MT6737T was a weak SoC and I dont think it would handle the FHD+ resolution there. To make it happen, the next device must using MT6757 like XA1 series and up. Fortunately the MT6757 is a drop in replacement and run on the same board as MT6737T, if Sony want to upgrade as a last ditch improvement.

One thing i loved about sony was its launcher and proprietary media apps.
I still use sony apps on my current.
I skipped the xz2 and is waiting for the next flagship.

I can't imagine buying any other flagship than sony

The ah standard only for IoT devices and operates within sub 1GHz spectrum aka jamming with TV signal and VHF/UHF...Also it kinda slow, but coverage is great...And no vendor working with ah yet and no mobile chip supports it
Unlikely...

Why is sony still using the same soc it's outdated and they should stop making low end phones its a waste of time and money should concentrate more on flagships and mid rangers

If they bring a phone similar to L2, why not SD 450 ?
I doubt the successor of XA2 comes with 660, 680 or 710.
I imagine the SD640.

Is Mediatek 6737 similar to Qualcomm 430?

Looks like Premium can be pre-ordered on July 2nd in China.

There is a lack of coordination between sony teams, that's why Kaz said that and now the reality is 180° from what he have said.

Sadly indeed, but they didn't even finalize it yet so we still have some time for it.

802.11ah is promising not just for IoT, but also for other devices that needs faster than BT but also wants to save power.

But for me, It can make WiFi coverage much better in the whole house to reach even hard places, I mean if the only thing you need is an internet connection not like 50mbps and more then this will be perfect even for mobile phones. forget about having tons of AP's and Repeaters, these will only be required for high-bandwidth requirements such as TV's, home theaters, etc.

About the interview, they say XZ2P is 16:9 because of the content.
Should have kept all 16:9. Media content is not just for the XZ2P users.

XA2 x XZ2

We can consider both with same screen %, about 76.
XA2 has better selfie hardware.
The bezels of XA2 are enough to keep the speakers.
XA2 is thinner, has bigger battery and jack
FPS is better placed.
Tech sites say XA2 is very confortable to use, it is 6mm shorter than Z phones.

I bet most would choose XA2 design over XZ2's.

This whole 18:9, 18.5:9, 19:9, 19.3:9 etc story is getting ridiculous. Today all sites are saying Mate 20 Pro may be 6.9".
If it has the design of P20, it will be almost 7" tall.

Guys should check out the Vivo Nex, it's a great technical achievement and it will no doubt be copied by many. Just consider how they set to cut bezels as their main priority and managed to change many features to get the end result. Also, check the hardware they crammed into that body.

Sony can be fat because of the sensor and have some bezel for the speakers but they can do much better, even the notchy phones are making the Sony flagships look dated particularly the XZ2P which in no way has a premium design. They need a new vision and direction with clear end design goals, not this mentality where they can release a monstrosity like the XZ2 Compact and be happy.
