^ What a weird move indeed... I would dare to say it is idiotic move actually. What on earth are they doing?! They have no clue either I guess. It is half baked product!

Yep, whether my next phone is going to be a Sony or not, I think I should wait until IFA, since no H1 2018 products are capable enough for me.
Sony should just cancel the XZ2P and make XZ3P instead, along with other products announced in IFA this year. What a waste of money for investing on such half-baked phone.

Actually the XZ2P was planned to introduce early this year. I guess nobody read my comments...
And the sub-sensor monochrome isnt IMX477, its IMX380-derivated, no stacked sensor, only main IMX400 is stacked one....
And if anyone have some spare time, try checking the "Gray" or Silver color of STH40D and compare it to XZ2P, see if i was right..... |

I knew that. Although, thanks for correcting me about the IMX477 secondary camera.

Honestly I am amazed with this new camera architect with it's own processor
Also 18:9 was the main reason as the 5 MP front camera to not buying XZ2 , they corrected those 2 mistakes with 16:9 and 12 MP front camera
Still I missed the power FPS but I think it maybe the next mistake to fix
All in all this phone will be mine when they start selling it |

So you all happy with this "Plan B"? |

Not at all... They will release it in July and then comes IFA in September, only few months after release of XZ2P, what's the point? Makes no sense at all. |

You mentioned the Plan B's design change was mostly on the front. I don't see any change except aspect ratio. Was the apect ratio only thing the upper management didn't like? Because it's not the display's aspect ratio that makes this design bad imo. You seem to like this new design language, may I ask why? |

Published today. I dont know if it was used during the event.
But looks cool.
@spek imx380 is new right? It seems to have same specs of that sensor used inside Pixel 2016.

Not happy at all.
It looks like after almost 20 years I will not be buying a SonyEricsson or Sony phone. I need a new phone by June and Sony is a letdown lately. XZ2 will most likely not support VoLT on T-Mobile and the XZ2 doesn't support LTE band 71. The X20 modem supports band 71 but Sony decided not to support it.
Sony doesn't care about the US market. Not surprised that they can't get any deals with wireless carriers. |

Well at least I did wake up to some news!
Yeah, this phone confirms the suspicions that it was meant to launch alongside the XZ2 and XZ2c and sit above them. Glad to see that some of the issues people had with those phones will likely be addressed with this phone with the rear and front cameras. I'm guessing the reason it's not launching until summer is because at least one component is not available yet, I wonder what it is.
Hope we get more info at tomorrow's Beijing event. I'd love to see some hands on press impressions with the camera, but since the phone is so far out I don't know if they'll have it available for them to use yet...
I will say Zackbuks was right. Glad to know we have another option for leaks |
