For clarity the new device i tried is SOV38, variant of the new device for au KDDI. Or japanese version of H81xx, alongside with SO-05K for NTT Docomo....

SOV38, I cant guess whether its a summer 2018 model or a winter one....

So you actually saw those model number, SOV38 and SO-05K on the device screen?
If so, they must be coming as summer model

No, they originally planned to release 3 devices at once. But SoMC leaderships didnt quite believe the new design would receive positive reactions yet and decided to keep one as "plan B". They modified a lot since the original "premium".

Because its a delayed product, the model name still the same....but the release time I think will fall in Winter....

spektykles, thanks for explanation. I really appreciate it.

But I'm a bit confused about one part.

You mentioned this XZ2 Premium is stretched version of XZ2. But at the same time, SONY made lots of change from the original premium with "plan B".

So is it going to be like just larger version of XZ2 of something completely different?

I'm OK with either though

The new device more like an XZ2 stretched with improved details based on the "hoohaa" reactions from the "monkey" fans throwing "shit" at the Ambient Flow design...I couldnt say it all...spoiling the fun....

And no, no "IMX700". Keep dreaming. The 41MP sensor of Huawei are co-developed through an project by Huawei and Sony Semicon. Some of the tech found on the new sensor owned by Huawei and Sony only act like an manufacturer for the sensor...

Thanks!

Hmm.. Improved details... Must be the placement of the fingerprint scanner, larger stbr, and thinner, maybe?

If Sony wanted to release it at May, then NAB 2018 is the perfect show for it. April 7...

If they wanted to release at October/November, coincidence with Xmas buying season then IFA 2018....

True. So it leaves sony with 2 choices.

1. release XZ2P Api-June and XZ3 series in fall
2. release XZ2P in fall and NOT releasing XZ3 series this year

Nice to know they realized that FPS is too low, cam too.
On Compact is better.
Hope they bring both speakers with same design.

Spek, please remind them ppl need XPERIA KEYBOARD and SCREEN RECORDING back.
It should never have been taken away.

Oh ya, speaking of Xperia keyboard, do you guys have problems of it not learning the new word you typed although auto learn has been enabled? I was using Chinese T9 keypad and typing English but it did not learn the new English words... If not for this handicap or glitch it is a very good and satisfactory keyboard .

Thanks spektykles, do you know if the XZ2P will also easily "spin around" when putting on the table, if the back is exactly the same but just a bigger version of XZ2? I'm quite keen to know if they may fix this unhandy downside of the nice new design~

I think we can rest assured that will be dealt with. The XZ2c doesn't really share that issue.

hmmm, maybe because XZ2 is glass, while XZ2 Compact is using plastic? I do hope it will be dealt with...
btw is XZ2P using 4K screen or 1080P? I forgot~~
