Moving on, I guess the P20 is now the camera to beat after looking at he Verge's comparison between it and the Pixel 2 XL:

For the longest time I had hoped for Sony to make a phone camera that was basically the A7S of the phone world. As of right now, the P20 seems to be the closest but I'm very excited to see what Sony can now do. The XZ2/XZ2c are ok, but they're using last years camera tech and that can only get them so far. This new camera module and image processor are quite likely the biggest camera steps we've seen Sony take to date on the smartphone front. I really hope we don't have to wait until September to see this tech in action. |

P20 Pro really beat Pixel 2 in low light although I think that Pixel 2 give a natural result for portrait which is better than P20 Pro.

I just wish someone had tried to better capture the samples from MWC where Sony had the new camera sensor hooked up. I couldn't find any close-up pics or video of that screen showing the little castle so we could see how much better the new sensor was. Anyone happen to know of any sources that actually captured that screen nice and close up in detail rather than at a distance? |

Info: all benchmark with the device name "PF12" are fake and photoshopped, also no render are real and match with real life device. I've held them in my hands (thats why there is a screenshot of Xperia Assist app with its details).
Also for RacSony, device number is serial number...
Its funny that ppl used my correct infos (codename and internal project number) to try to "enhance" their fake leak.....

For clarity the new device i tried is SOV38, variant of the new device for au KDDI. Or japanese version of H81xx, alongside with SO-05K for NTT Docomo....
SOV38, I cant guess whether its a summer 2018 model or a winter one....

Sorry, are you claiming you have held the XZ2 premium in your hands?
If so, any specific info about the design you'd care to share? We'll have to wait for actual leaks to verify any info you provide, but it would be useful in verifying whether you are a trustworthy source or not. |

@viv
At MWC I believe they just allowed ppl to see videos skills.
Compared to a previous xperia, I think it might be XZ1c.

About P20 Pro. It is not that good.
If you download samples from DxO review you will see .
Photos are ppl are very disappointent, no better than phones from 2015.
Impossible to tell if a person has good or bad skin.
Too strong beautification.
Many comments about oversharpening and too much wrong noise reduction , not only there butbon DPReview too. |

This is nice trap setup
Just tell us it looks better then XZ2 and that's enough!

As long as it does not have notch..
It is the only way to look worse than xz2.
@spek
0 = ugly like iphone X or Essential 10 = as pretty as Z3+ or S6 Edge+
So 0 to 10, how would you score it?

Regarding the P20, so far all the photos that I have seen comparing the photos in low light are only static scenes.
The algorithm will be able to correct slight movements, but until now I have not seen a scene where the movement of the subject is noticeable, for example a dog or a carousel at night.
I think Huawei use this method for Night Mode:
1.- Take a photo in long exposure (4secs) and low ISO using the RGB sensor.
2.- Take the same photo with High ISO (1000 ISO At least) using the Monochromatic Sensor (The monochromatic sensors are more tolerant to noise)
Then combine the images, First the monochromatic image, a reduction of noise is applied to it, and finally of the color image, the tone, saturation and color information is extracted.
I came to this conclusion since I saw several samples and I realized that there was noise but only monochromatic and not colored noise.
It could be tested in Photoshop, using layers.
In any case, I think it is more focused on static night photos than scenes with complex movements. |

What kind of scoring is that? Not all people has the same opinion as you do. He might think that iPhone X is beautiful or Z3+ is ugly.
Spektykles, could you tell us the characteristics of the H81xx? Just what finish does the phone use, how does the back look like, and how big the screen is?

Impossible to deny that Z3+ and S6e are stunning.
Notch is ridiculous.
Even Apple might drop it for 2018 or 2019.

The new device more like an XZ2 stretched with improved details based on the "hoohaa" reactions from the "monkey" fans throwing "shit" at the Ambient Flow design...I couldnt say it all...spoiling the fun....
And no, no "IMX700". Keep dreaming. The 41MP sensor of Huawei are co-developed through an project by Huawei and Sony Semicon. Some of the tech found on the new sensor owned by Huawei and Sony only act like an manufacturer for the sensor...

So you actually saw those model number, SOV38 and SO-05K on the device screen?
If so, they must be coming as summer model |
