There was a fear that S9 would shadow XZ2.
But it did not happen.
I dont remember to see any tech site that did not like the duo.

Once in while, I said they need going to rework of Xperia ZL. Take a closer look and it almost right.
But shouldn't take some element of design cue from failure business, it make me upset with their move.
Not so sure how I should feel but more than 10 pages back here, I did said XZ2 is much alike X Performance. Suddenly now someone begin following my idea  And yes, XZ2 also fairly alike rework of Xperia ZL as I did put on request as well, except some element in design change is not so favorite to me.

There have two more large event before IFA make drum roll in Berlin
Computex which venue to Taiwan (Sony Mobile claim their second best performing market) and Mobile World Congress (Shanghai Edition) which happening around early and late June, respectively
MWC Shanghai is not widely known before, because when Xperia Z Ultra officially landed at that time it was not collaborated with GSMA yet Oh well, after that couple months it was Xperia Z1 landed in Berlin too!
There no need to act like you have insider to know this kind of stuff

You've quoted yourself I think.
I do feel the same way. Morever like 2016, 2017, this year Sony seems to be trying to do a Samsung ... launch too many products in the same distributional channels (localizations across the globe) yet at various times in the same year.
Why Not 3 segments:
Low cost, best possible features with iconic design.
Mid cost, top end features - Compact lineup
Top tier premium hardware/features.
^ Do this at MWC yearly ... Mid and Top end with option for enterprise (just in case they want to venture in this field)
Then in September/October (to give a poke to Samsung's Note 8, and Apple's top end iPhone) ... launch their top end full out premium "balls to the wall" handset as a "limited edition" so that it's profitable. 5K per continent on pre-order and include top line headphones as well. Specialty boxen.
Sony needs to unify Gaming, TV, and other ventures (Movies, Music) on a Global Scale along with an Enterprise option. Maybe not so much on the latter.
With all the fuzz about dual rear cameras and modes and such I still after 2 decades haven't gotten the shutter bug ... doubt I ever will to be honest. Sony should begin seeing a future where the smartphone IS the computing solution. Especially since their Vaio division is long gone, and Samsung has their Dex soon with linux ARM support.

I just searched Amazon.com for an XZ2 case and a lot of the search results were for an XZ2 Pro case.
XZ2 Pro should be announced soon.

@dacha or just some sneaky chinese sellers trying to make a buck on speculation  really doubt these sellers somehow have secret insider information as to when a phone is going to be released that is better than what we get here.
that photo can't be trusted. there is no camera shutter, which is a sony signature that probably won't be removed. and really doubt they'll be trashing their sensor array already? unless that is a dual LED flash and the dual cam is so good it doesn't need the laser, etc

It also has bottom speakers. Not very likely that Sony will change the speaker layout. |
