Time Shift is limited to 60 shots.
The one we had is like the Burst Mode of XZ1.
Keep pressing the shutter button and it could shot as much as you wanted.
But not good as the new one.
It lost focus easily.

I wish they could allow higher resolution for Background Defocus and other cam apps.
At least 12MP.

AR, scene recognition, both cam same time,... Brought by Sony then copied by others.

Do you guys think the 3D scan will be on midranges too?

They should make one new sensor exclusive for Premium.
23MP/ 1.5 micron/ f1.8 ....... This is enough.

Everyone knows that only now google activates the Pixel Visual Core (with 8.1 p2). The point is even without the dedicated SoC the pics are best in class with generic SoC (SD835)

People needs to understand that "Pixel Visual Core" will not dramatically improve the pic quality from the current state. Google build the Pixel Visual Core to accelerate the machine learning within the phones and to capture photos and videos fast and efficiently. But with times with better machine learning pixel phone will start to show difference.

The visual core processor in the pixel 2 phones have been used since day one by the Google camera app on the pixel 2 exclusively. It just wasn't available for 3rd party apps to utilize. The 8.1 update will make it available to 3rd party apps.

Never heard of it. You should give some link where it says HDR+ was using the SoC from the beginning of pixel 2 and they are only activating the SoC so that they 3rd party can now use it. Because I remember reading arstechnica's post that it doesn't even work it at the launch of pixel 2.

Here is the original google post. It clearly stated in the last paragraph that -
HDR+ will be the first application to run on Pixel Visual Core.

Another indication that HDR+ didn't use when the pixel 2 phones were released and will be the first program to use it when it was activated.

Moogoo is right. It's now opening up to all camera apps. It wasn't deactivated but locked.

Here is another proof that google wasn't using the SoC during when pixel 2 was launched.
https://www.theverge.com/2017[....]core-ipu-custom-processor-chip

Read the second para -
"The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL both have it built in, but laying dormant until activation at some point “over the coming months.” It’s highly likely that Google didn’t have time to finish optimizing the implementation of its brand-new hardware, so instead of yanking it out of the new Pixels, it decided to ship the phones as they are and then flip the Visual Core activation switch when the software becomes ready. In that way, it’s a rather delightful bonus for new Pixel buyers. The Pixel 2 devices are already much faster at processing HDR shots than the original Pixel, and when the Pixel Visual Core is live, they’ll be faster and more efficient."

I don't know where you guys heard/read from it because I couldn't find it. All the reports, even google's own blog indicated that HDR+ wasn't using the pixel visual core from the beginning but will be the first one to use the dedicated SoC and it'll be opening up to other 3rd parties after activation.

At least give a link.

Well I read that portrait mode depends on the AI core but I might be wrong. Guess you're right

I think i was confusing the HDR+ with the visual core. Google has been using HDR+ since the beginning. HDR+ is what makes the pixel2's pictures so good. the visual core will just make that algorithm faster.

the 8.1 update will allow 3rd party apps to use HDR+ + visual core.

I think i saw an article somewhere that said someone on XDA ported HDR+ to be used on any phone with a newer processor. anybody with an XZP or XZ1 do that yet?

@Moogoo
The port requires raw support. Works on rudy's ASOP build
